winbind and getent group
Hi,
I'm having trouble to let "getent group" show the members of the group.
The command is just listing the group name and gid but no members. So
does "wbinfo --group-info". Is there some trick to do? "getent passwd"
shows correct group memberships.

Useradd & NIS issue if the user exist
Hi,
I have a class to add users to all the host servers. We are in
the process to have a coexisting user which belongs in NIS & as well as
/etc/passwd.
We have NIS clients (yp running) on all host servers.
So when running puppet is fails to add or modify user, bcos the user
already exists in NIS.
Eg: A user pcruise is an existing NIS user.
When using useradd or

Unix attributes
Hello,
I have just started to experiment with Samba4 as an AD.
All together I have 3 sambas DCs in 3 locations.
In my SMB. CONF stands the following entry: idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes
If I provide new users or groups, I do this about RSAT of a Windows Server 2008 R2. This Windows Server is only normal Domainmember.
I have problems with the care of the Unix attributes:

Question on approach to authenticate Linux against Samba4
This is in a test environment: Also, it is wordy, but I'm hoping it explains my scenario.
I am migrating from a custom LDAP+Samba3 authentication solution to Samba4. I have used the classicupgrade option to pull off the data from the existing ldap server to populate the samba4 database. I've installed AD DS and Server for NIS tools on a Windows 2008 server that is connected to the Samba4

NIS - netgroup
Hello;
Sorry for the crosspost/repost, but I am getting desparate here.
I am having difficulties setting up ssh (ossh4.3p2 - NIS -Solaris8/Sparc) to
authenticate and allow ossh access based on NIS netgroup. So, users and/or
host should be from a valid netgroup triple, contained within the ossh
servers .rhosts, .shosts, hosts.equiv and/or shosts.equiv.
I am having alot of trouble getting NIS

SAMBA ADS to NIS mapping
I am working in an environment with an HP-UX NIS that my Red Hat ES 4.x
system is using for Unix access controls.
My Red Hat system is serving as an NFS server for the HP-UX users who also
could be Windows users coming from a Windows Server 2003 active directory.
I have tested some configurations of SAMBA using winbind, but I don't get
the results I want. What happens when using winbind

NIS Authentication Help!
Hello, I have a question that I was wondering if someone could help me
with. I am an admin at RIT and we have a large network base of Sun
machines. We do authentication via NIS over NFS. We are about to
receive a full lab of Windows boxes and need to set up a samba server to
serve users' home directories to the Windows boxes. This initial
configuration is relatively easy, but we want

Contribution to 3.8.1pl1
Hello,
I added the support for netgroups to be used in the
AllowUsers and DenyUsers parameters. This has some
advantages:
* hostnames or ip addresses need not to be written or
maintained in the sshd_config file, but can be kept
abstract names what also simplifies a bit largescale
openssh installations
* sshd_config needs not change and sshd be restarted
when changing the list of allowed /

getent group is not working
getent group is not working in an opensuse 13.1 member server for an active directory samba 4 domain
wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g, wbinfo -t and getent passwd | grep SIENIC are working, these are my configuration files and the output of the commands.
Note: the domain controller has samba installed from source (4.1.11), the member server has the distro packages installed (4.1.0)

restricting access to an NIS netgroup
I am using CentOS 5.7. I have an /etc/security/access.conf file which has
the following:
+ : root : LOCAL
+ : @mynetgroup : ALL
- : ALL : ALL
I thought this is supposed to restrict access to the system to only root
and the accounts in the mynetgroup netgroup; however, anyone NIS account
is still able to login. It appears that the access.conf is being ignored
completely, so I'm thinking

CentOS 6 and NIS not working
I am having no luck getting NIS to work on a clean install of CentOS 6. It seems to be an issue with ypbind.
I have simple /etc/yp.conf which explicitly sets the server
domain myDomain server myServer
The service seems to start okay
#service ypbind start
Starting NIS service: [OK]
Binding NIS service: ? [OK]
But when I try to use any of the yp services, like ypwhich

Understanding UID/GID mapping models.
I am using either DOMAIN or ADS for authentication and am trying to
understand how UID/GID mapping rules are triggered.
This[1] seems to suggest that if I do not specify the idmap uid/gid
parameters in smb.conf, then authenticated usernames are mapped to
"local" user accounts having the same name.
If, however, I _do_ specify idmap uid/gid then one of the idmap_*
allocator modules is
