windbind stopped working
I recently upgraded my PDC's and BDC's to 3.0.14a but my member servers are still running 3.0.10. Today users complained that the couldn't logon to the member server. When I try to run a wbinfo -u I get: Error looking up domain users Here's the log.windbindd: 2005/05/31 11:06:26, 4] param/loadparm.c:lp_load(3933) pm_process() returned Yes [2005/05/31 11:06:26, 3]

Log shows NT4 for an ADS domain
I'm trying to learn about the interactions between SAMBA and win2k DCs. The eventual goal is to have a Win2k server with ADS working with a freeBSD SAMBA server. I've used the setup from http://oslabs.mikro-net.com/fbsd_samba.html as the basis for what I've done so far. Winbind seems to work and I can show users and groups using wbinfo although I see some things in the logs that I

It looks like the user script "/usr/sbin/useradd -s /bin/false %u" doesn't work, and my

winbind issues with AD domain trust
I'm setting up Samba in an environment with 2 Active Directory domains setup with a one way trust (DOMAINA -> DOMAINB). Samba is in DOMAINA. From looking at the logs (see below) it appears that winbind is having troubles getting the credentials for the domain controller in DOMAINB. I can get tickets, using kinit, for accounts in both domains. I can join DOMAINA just fine. Running

wbinfo can't list users
Hi, I'm running debian sarge with kernel 2.6.8-2-sparc64. I'm trying to use winbind to connect to a Windows 2000 server. I can use "net rpc join" to join the domain, but "wbinfo -u" returns an error. winbind/wbinfo not pulling info from W2K AD PDC
Hi list, I have samba-3.0.2-2 rpm installed on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 AS kernel version. I've been using the Samba 3 How-To and messages on various mailing lists to join Samba to an AD domain and authenticate using winbind/pam. So far Samba has successfully become a member of the AD domain and can browse file servers using smbclient but I haven't been able to get winbind working -

smbclient connect problem
I've tried everything I can think of, but still cannot connect to a Windows 2000 share using smbclient. I know the shared directory is set up OK because I can get to it with another Windows box. My smbclient command line should be OK because the same syntax works on another Linux box at work (running a slightly older version of smbclient) to a similarly setup Windows box. This is what I get

joining samba 3.0.25b on aix to a native w2k domain
Hi, I've compiled Samba 3.0.25b on an AIX 5.2 machine without any hassle (also without ADS / Kerberos Support!) but getting it to join our AD domain is a true PITA. The AIX machine is called NLXDRZ05, the domain D-REIZEN.INTRA (could also be D-REIZEN, I'm a Unix guy, not an NT guy and I usually leave that stuff to the people that know what they're doing) I've had a machine

net rpc query
Hi. I'm using samba-3.0.24 on a gentoo box. The samba machine is configured as a domain member server within a MS Windows 2003 active directory. It has been successfully joined to the domain and everything works, shares, kerberos, ldap. However, I cannot get nested groups to work, or more precisely, I cannot add a local group using net rpc. Here is what I am doing: gentoo ~ # net rpc

I posted my original post to FreeBSD-questions@freebsd.org and since then have had a running dialog with another poster. It now seems I am having trouble with the NSSWITCH function. I am now reporting back to the Samba list in hopes someone can help me out at this point. Can anyone help me out here? ~Doug -----Original Message----- Sent: Friday, September 16, 2005 12:48 PM To: 'Dan

Samba 3.0.21b winbind crash
I'm using Samba 3.0.21b on SuSE 9.3 Pro (x86) with the binary RPMs from samba.org/suse.com (3.0.21b-1.1.2-SUSE-SL9.3) on a Domain Member Server in ADS mode with winbind against W2K3 SP1 AD servers and idmap uids/gids stored in a central OpenLDAP directory. Unfortunately, winbind gives me a hard time and reproducibly dies with a PANIC on a "wbinfo -g", although I think I've

Call timed out: server did not respond...
Hello All, I don't know how, but I managed to get my no logon server found error to go away, but now I am experiencing another problem. When I run "net join ads -d 3" I get the following error message. I know it's authenticating, because if I enter an incorrect password it says "The username or password was not correct." So it's accessing the correct server, but
