Smbd internal error and panic with nfs-mounted share
We're trying to share a directory that's mounted via NFS from another
server; when we connect to that share, smbd panics and tries to dump
core.
This is samba-3.0.30 on Alpha/Tru64-4.0G. The directory we're trying to
use is exported from a Linux box called sesfs (Centos 4.4) and
mounted on
the Alpha server via NFS as /sesfs/scratch. I've appended below an

How can I confirm that idmap_ad is being used?
How can I confirm that idmap_ad is being called?
I've configured Samba with --with-shared-modules=idmap_ad, built and
installed it; the file ad.so is now present in /usr/local/samba/lib/
idmap/
as expected. I then added the following to smb.conf:
idmap backend = tdb
idmap uid = 65536 - 999999
idmap gid = 65536 - 999999
idmap config SU : backend = ad

Porting CTDB to Solaris
We wanted to try out clustered Samba on a pair of small OpenSolaris/
Intel
boxes. But after downloading the CTDB source from the Samba git
repository,
I discovered that it won't build on Solaris -- the configure script
supports
only Linux and AIX.
Is there a Solaris port for CTDB, or is somebody working on one? (If
not,
I might take a crack at it; would it be a straightforward port?)

Leopard Macs using Kerberos: Failed to parse negTokenTarg
I think I've found out why MacOS 10.5.x (Leopard) clients are unable to
connect to Samba shares when authenticating with Kerberos. Basically,
the
Leopard Macs insert a few extra bytes (Padding and reqFlags,
according to
wireshark) into the security blob within the Session Setup AndX Request
packet, bytes whose start tag is 0xa1, in a spot where Samba's parser
expects 0xa2. The critical

mount with uid does not give correct local uid (kernel 2.6)
Hi,
I'm running smbd 3.0.5 with kernel 2.4.26. I connect with a Linux-client (also
samba 3.0.5 installed) on kernel 2.6.7 with this directive:
mount -t smbfs -o uid=1005,username=joe,workgroup=lanz //prim/joe /mnt/test
As a result, the directory /mnt/test is owned by uid=1005 but all the
subdirectories and files in this directory are owned by uid 1001. This uid
(1001) is that of joe on

Getting users and groups through winbind on FreeBSD
Hi
We have a few Linux samba servers that authenticate against our
Active Directory domain (Small Business Server 2000). I've added a
couple of disks to a FreeBSD 6.1 server in our office and I'm trying
to achieve the same but not having much luck. I'm new to all
this... I'm not our network admin, but he is BSD-phobic so I thought
it was safer to do it myself.

3.0.25 Winbind high CPU usage
I just upgraded from 3.0.23d to 3.0.25 and I'm noticing that winbind is
chewing up a lot of CPU usage.
There are always 2 winbindd processes and one uses about 80% cpu and the
other use 15% cpu.
When I run a tcpdump and look at the traffic going to/from the domain
controller winbindd is connected to, there is a constant flow of
traffic.
Here is the winbind setup from my smb.conf file:

File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
We have Samba 3.2.4 on two SLES 10 (one is SP1, the other SP2 64bit)
machines. Both are member servers in our ADS, which was over the past
month given some additional DCs, new IPs for all DCs, and upgraded to
Windows 2008 (from win2003). The krb5.conf and nsswitch.conf files on
the two machines are identical; the smb.conf files are *nearly*
identical in their common section; the filewall rules

samba 3.5.6 authentication with AD 2008
Hi guys,
I have installed samba with AD authentication. Ntlm_auth is working without any issue with the domain.
But if I connect using my windows pc, to the samba share, it gives following error.
Wbinfo -u / wbinfo -g giving the correct output. And ntlm_auth also working without any issue.
If I try to connect from my windows PC to the samba share it gives following error.

All,
I'm trying to configure a Samba 3 AD member server including winbind. I'm on RHEL 6.6, so I'm using Samba version 3.6.23.
Here's my configuration:

log level = 3 winbind:10
workgroup = ABC
server string = LV37
netbios name = LV37

mod_auth_ntlm_winbind SSO
Hello
We are trying to implement SSO with mod_auth_ntlm_winbind.
We followed the instructions on [1], but have the issue that users can
not authenticate with web browsers.
In addition to that document we did the following extra steps:
- chown root:winbind /var/lib/samba/winbindd_privileged/
- apache user (vagrant) is in group winbind
- net setauthuser -U vagrant
- smb.conf has: winbind use

winbindd_pam_auth_crap: invalid password length
Hi,
I am using squid+ntlm-helper+samba+winbindd.
Squid mailing list told me to try this one.
When using the setting "Send NTLMv2 Response only" on my windows VISTA
machines I get this error message in my logs.
winbindd_pam_auth_crap: invalid password length.
As soon as I change the setting to "Send NTLMv2 if negotiated" it works.
