Batch computer account creation
I'm looking for a way to batch create a list of computers accounts in Active directroy running on Windows 2000 PDC. I tried to use perl ldap to create those objects but I didn't manage to set the sAMAccountType to "805306369" ( apparently this is a read only auto generated value) Is there any way to do that under Linux ? Thanks, Thomas #! /usr/bin/perl use strict; use

How to get time differences in consistent units?
I'm still having trouble getting to grips with time classes. I wish to calculate the difference in days between events. Browse[1]> insp.j$First [1] "2002-02-19 13:00:00 NZDT" Browse[1]> spray.j$Date [1] "2001-11-29 13:00:00 NZDT" Browse[1]> insp.jk - spray.j$Date Time difference of 82 days If I save insp.jk to a vector, I get a nice useful value of 82.

failes replication ldap, error SPN
Good afternoon. how to overcome the problem, samba creates an SPN in the format computer_name.example.com (computer name in lower case) and Windows registers as CUMPUTER_NAME.example.com (computer name in uppercase). When synchronizing in the direction of Samba, 2 SPN entries appear computer_name.example.com CUMPUTER_NAME.example.com And on the windows side, there is a replication error, since by

this is a rather critical error. Do you have a patch for version 4.6 or 4.7? but why not bring everything to the same register when checking? How do I understand Windows does not care about the register? Can't add machine account to domain
I am running samba-2.2.7a-7.9.0 on RedHat 9.0. The domain I am trying to join has a different name than the workgroup I am trying to leave. Below is a copy of the last two entries of the computer_name.log, which are created when I try to add the machine account. Issues with OS/2 and Samba 4
Hi folks, I made some tests with OS/2 (really!) and Samba 4 (tested with 4.1.17) and found some issues: 1. valid users and lost password on windows xp
Hi all, in my network we're using samba as a disk share for users. Each user can access users thru his unix login name and password, but sometimes I experience that Windows xp (prof.) loses the password, so it prompts the user again for the it. In particular, after a smbpasswd password change, I have one machine that, even if mounting the share as a network disk (with username and

EXT3 and large directories
I have an ext3 filesystem that has several directories and each directory gets a large number of files inserted and then deleted over time. The filesystem is basically used as a temp store before files are processed. The issue is over time the directory scans get extremely slow even if the directories are empty. I have noticed the directories can range in size from 4k - 100M even when they are

Sieve autoreply woes on test setup
Hi, I have been testing sieve in my setup with qmail-ldap and deliver on a LAN with an artificial domain name. Everything seems to be working as expected, except in cases when autoreplies (vacation, reject messages) need to be tested. The domain name is vmint, and dawnone is the hostname on which mail server is setup, so a users have address like cot at vmint, cute at vmint and dove at vmint *

I have a weird problem with PDC on samba 3.5.3 and I think I need developers' help :)
I'm sorry for the very long debug pasted below but I'm afraid lower debug levels would not give enough useful information about the problem. I've been investigating it for over two weeks with no result. Maybe developers can tell me where to search for the cause - browsing source code is very hard... I have a Samba PDC with LDAP backend. Configuration works fine on 3.0.x version but

Thanks. Assuming that the IMAP mail directory for the account affected is under /home/xyz/mail, are you talking about the contents of the index directory, excluding the log file therein?
