Clustered Samba: Every 24 hours "There are Currently No Logon Servers Available"
All, i have this very weird and annoying problem in my clustered setup: every ~24 hours the vista clients cant login, or even unlock there screens anymore. The error they receive is "currently no logon services available" this is very odd, because i have 2 samba 3.5.8 servers available, running and configured to handle login requests. in the mean time the people that are logged in

Samba with CTDB able to serve non-clustered data?
Hi, I'd like to set up a HA Samba server that serves out data from NFS mounts. I was thinking that CTDB was the thing to do use but it is only mentioned with serving clustered file systems like Gluster, Lustre, etc. Is there a way to set up a HA Samba server without a clustered file system? Thanks, Steve

Performance problem using clustered samba via ctdb
Hello, I recently set up a samba cluster with 4 nodes using ctdb. The systems are virtual Citrix xen machines running SuSE SLES11Sp2 with samba 3.6.3. The shared filesystem needed for ctdb is on a ocfs2 share stored on a ISCSI target. The cluster is running fine and ip takeover etc is working fine as well. To find out how the cluster would performe in real life with many clients accessing

CTDB: Clustered NFS, reboot, requires me to exportfs -r(a)
Hi Samba, I hope you are doing well. I run a cifs / nfs CTDB clustered NAS solution, and I find that when I reboot any of the nodes in the cluster, I must re-export the nfs mounts so they show up properly. Perhaps this is a general linux nfs bug and I am barking up the wrong tree, but I haven't found any problem / solution mentioning this as of yet besides my own known workaround

Samba with CTDB able to serve non-clustered data?
Hi Martin, Thanks very much for the information. I guess the part: * Coherency of the file data you serve with Samba You need to make sure that updates to the data that you are serving are seen coherently across the cluster. Is the tough one. Is there a way to do this that you know of when using NFS? I see version 4.5 RC2 was just released. Do you know when it will be fully released?

kernel oplocks in ctdb environment
Hi Can anyone advise me on "kernel oplocks" in a ctdb cluster. I have a ctdb (GPFS is the parallel file system) setup that uses samba (3.5.8) for cifs and IBM CNFS for NFS. Reading the documentation on kernel oplocks it seems to me that I can export the same area via samba and NFS with "kernel oplocks = Yes" . My logic is that IBM CNFS has shared NFS locking

ctdb, samba and WINS
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I'm in the progress of setting up clustered samba with ctdb. Samba is ADS-member server. WINS server is configured on two of our 2003-servers. When samba runs for a couple of hours I checked the WINS servers and saw that samba/nmbd registrred only the private interface addresses (192.168.1.x) and not the public interfaces (10.0.0.41,42).

Windows Vista keeps on deleting cached roaming profile
I have a couple of Windows Vista Computers that i freshly (re)installed, updated to SP2 + all updates, and joined to my domain... i also got an empty profile on the server (the storage folder is there, but there are no files inside) When i log into the domain Windows creates all files and folders just fine and stores a cache of that profile in c:\users\username (like it should), And when i log

Nodes in CTDB Cluster don't release recovery lock
Hello all, First of all, apologies if this isn't the right location for this question, I couldn't find a CTDB specific mailing list or IRC so I figured the general one would be appropriate. Please let me know if this question is better placed elsewhere. I'm trying to test clustered samba and have a two node CTDB setup (Following the guide here:

CTDB -- manually setting winbind uid with wbinfo
Hi We have a ctdb cluster setup as follows ctdb version -- surprisingly difficult to determine. I think it is 1.0.99 (dragged from a include file somewhere, I forget where exactly ). If anyone can tell me how to determine this proberly then I would be pleased to know. samba version 3.5.8 I was hoping to be able to set the UID to SID mapping manually using the following procedure.

Nodes in CTDB Cluster don't release recovery lock
Hello all, Thanks for the input. I opened up the firewall ports and testing connectivity by ctdb's ping to no avail. I did however fix the problem. I must have missed the section of the guide outlining the importance of the nodes file, but it seems the issue was that machine A's nodes file was in reverse order compared to B's. After rectifying that the cluster came up without issue,

logical 'or' on list of vectors
Suppose I have a list of logicals, such as returned by lapply: Theoph$Dose[1] <- NA Theoph$Time[2] <- NA Theoph$conc[3] <- NA lapply(Theoph,is.na) Is there a direct way to execute logical "or" across all vectors? The following gives the desired result, but seems unnecessarily complex. as.logical(apply(do.call("rbind",lapply(Theoph,is.na)),2,"sum"))

Samba/ctdb on AIX 6.1
I'm trying to test Samba 3.5.8 with ctdb on AIX 6.1 and running into some issues. I was able to get the latest ctdb code built with some small changes and then get a working cluster, but without CTDB managing the public IP addresses or Samba startup/shutdown. The included event script for managing interfaces is linux specific. Is it possible to allow ctdb to manage the public cluster

CTDB / Samba4. Nodes don't become healthy on first startup
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm trying to bring up a three node cluster using CTDB and SAMBA4 on a GlusterFS clustered file system. The filesystem itself seems to be working just fine, but CTDB doesn't seem happy. If I start a single node up: service ctdb start After about 10 seconds it becomes healthy, starts SAMBA and takes over all 3 IP addresses. However,

Status of printing with ctdb
Hi I posted this to the samba-technical mailing list, but I think that may have been the wrong place. I have been trying to get printing working with ctdb samba (plus Windows driver installation). Every time I install the drivers for Windows it looks like it's copying file but the printer just keeps re-asking for drivers. I have print$ on a GFS2 filesystem to share across the cluster, which
