Supporting Mac OS X MCI in Samba4
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone had a solution for supporting Mac OS
X's Managed Client rules with Samba4. I was thinking I'd have to extend the
schema (which Apple demonstrates on a traditional Windows Server in a
video), but I am not sure how to do that with Samba4's LDAP.
Thanks much if you have any ideas!

Domain Controller GPO
Hi All,
I am using Samba4 Alpha12, and i am trying to edit the password policy
(which I believe is derived from the PDC's policy), but I am trying to
figure out whether Samba4 can respond to GPOs. If It cannot, how would I
define the password policy for the domain? Thanks.

Advice for W2K migration to samba
Hallo,
I'm running a W2K AD network with about 20 clients (mostly Windows
XP machines, some Ubuntu 10.04 clients). I also have a couple of samba
servers (debian 5) which are joined to the domain.
I need to upgrade from W2K to something which is not EOL.
The AD server is also a print server for the domain.
I only have about 20 user accounts, so recreating them from scratch
would be not

Unable to join samba4 to AD as a DC
Hello,
I'm trying to get samba4 up and running as a DC in a lab environment.
I have a freshly installed AD environment (W2012R2 servers, W2008R2
functional level) and I'm trying to join samba4 to it as a domain
controller.
When I try, I get this:
# samba-tool domain join ad.netdirect.ca DC -Uadministrator
--realm=AD.NETDIRECT.CA -W AD

samba4 AD controller, production
Hello, list,
Anyone running a recent version of samba4 as the only one AD controller in the domain, *in production*? If so, what is your overall experience?
I am going to make such an install for a site with some 50 users (and frankly speaking, I am frightened ... so give me some courage!)
Would you recommend me to go ahead and do it? Latest release?
Any feedback is more that appreciated

Roaming Profiles Configuration
Hello all! I am new to the mailing lists, as well as Samba. I was looking
for an Active Directory alternative for linux, and finally landed on Samba4.
My installation is alpha12, installed via apt on Ubuntu 10.10. I am trying
to create roaming profiles, however, if "path = /UserData" then the profiles
are viewable from every user account by simple accessing "

Samba4 with AD + Linux ACL's - permission problem
Hi experts,
I have a Samba4/AD scenario which is driving me crazy.
On some servers, I have the same volume mounted on /share. I am using some
different servers as gateways to export this content using HTTP, NFS, FTP
and CIFS. AD authentication is a must.
On the Linux machine where Samba is running, I have joined it to the domain
using PBIS (domainjoin-cli join [DomainName [DomainAccount]).

Share authentication problem
Hi @ll !
I am trying to set up a samba fileserver in SuSe 42.3 as domain member
in a debian based Samba4 AD. The join seems to be ok, as I can get
/wbinfo -u/ and /-g/, and /getent group/ and /passwd/.
I can also list all browsable shares with /smbclient -L \\SambaFS
-Uusername/, but when i add -k, I get following errors :
/SPNEGO(gse_krb5) creating NEG_TOKEN_INIT for cifs/Samba1 failed

netbios name = SAMBA1
server role = active directory domain controller
allow dns updates = nonsecure

AD DCs Upgrade
I am planning to upgrade the DCs using the join and promote method.
List of DCs
-----------
1) SAMBA1
2) SAMBA2
3) DC1
4) DC2
Currently SAMBA1 is the PDC and SAMBA2 is the "SDC" and are in sync with replication and rsync sysvol. DCs SAMBA1 and SAMBA2 are 4.1 git releases with AD Schema version 47.
My plan to get to AD Schema version 69 was...

Ubuntu 8.04 breaks samba file locking
Just upgraded Saturday from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04.01. File locking in Samba is now
broken, meaning two different users can have the same file open at the same time
and edit it.
Server is RedHat 9.0 running Samba 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix. This has been
working well for us for several years. Have one WinXP box accessing the server
using OOo 2.0. Have another couple of Win95 boxes.

I'm trying this configuration:

Everything works. I can add users, list users, delete users (and
groups) with "net rpc user..." I can join clients, etc.

Clustered Samba Printing
Hi Folks,
I'm part of a Novell department that is working on
moving from Novell NDPS printing to Samba printing.
I have been told that the Samba environment will
have to be clustered to assure the same level of
redundancy for printing.
Does anyone have any pointers? Whether actual
experience in this or a location of good
documentation of the clustering process?
Thanks for
