CIFS VFS errors on strtoUCS in messages log
I have little idea what actions this relates to,
but I see about 200 or more of these errors each day
in the messages log file:
May 29 15:55:41 mima kernel: CIFS VFS: strtoUCS: char2uni of -127 returned
-22
No one has complained of a problem. Does anyone know what
it signifies?

samba 4.2 RDP problem
Hi,
same problem here!
Updated my test-environment with two Dcs from sernet-samba 4.1.17-10 to 4.2.1-7.
And now if you try to open a rdp session to a client mashine and login
with domain credentials the login hangs right after the welcome screen appears.
It does not matter if you use the domain admin or a normal user account.
Local client side user are working without any problem.

samba 4.2 RDP problem
Hi Carsten,
Until yesterday I had the same issue. In thread titled "[Samba] samba 4.2
RDP problem (solved)" there are some proposal to solve this issue but
trying them I was able to connect through RDP but RSAT tools weren't
working anymore.
This was solved using the following smb.conf. In bold the two lines added
which solved this issue. Now RSAT and RDP are working well here.

samba 4.2 RDP problem
Hi Mathias
I can confirm that this fixed the RDP issue for me whilst not breaking
share authentication. I'm still a bit wary of what other affects these
configuration options might have though.
Thanks

how to debug permission denied errors
I need to access several Windows domain shares from my linux box. I can access both shares from
a Win box where I use my domain login. I placed my domain credentials in /home/przemek/.smb_credentials
and I can successfully mount one of the shares:
mount.cifs '//elwood.nist.gov/61_NCNR/610' /mnt/ --verbose -o uid=przemek,credentials=/home/przemek/.smb_credentials

Samba Domain server authentication
Hi,
The setup used to work on a when both file and AD were in the same box.
We're trying to separate them.
The 'net rpc testjoin' gives: Join to "LIN" is ok.
The wbinfo -u does list all users with "LIN\username". The getent passwd
lists the LIN\username with all the attrributes". This is after putting in
your suggestions about winbind trusted domains only and

Samba Domain server authentication
Hi,
We're having issues accessing shares from our Samba file server.
If we try to access the share from a domain joined Windows machine, it
prompts with enter username and password. If we supply the domain password
it fails. The error that we get is the following.
Failed to find a Unix account for peteruser 'lin\aadamson' (from session
setup) not permitted to access this share (data)

Samba Domain server authentication
Is this something that used to work but no longer does?
What are the results of "net rpc testjoin" command on the samba server?
Is the domain controller also samba?
What does "wbinfo -u" command show on the samba server? On my servers
shows "DOMAINNAME\eachuser" but that is with "winbind trusted domains
only = No" and "winbind use default

[3.4.7] Right way to provide full access?
Hello
I'd like to configure Samba on a test host running Ubuntu so that I
have full read/write access from XP to a sub-directory of the root
filesystem.
The host is located on a LAN behind a firewall, so security is not an
issue, ie. I'd like to configure Samba with no/minimal security.
Currently, I can read but can't write. Between /etc/passwd, smb.conf,
and access rights to the
