Question about KDC Resolution with Samba
I'm running a debug script from this site (Dated 16 Aug 2019, created and maintained by Rowland Penny and Louis van Belle). The script obtains the Linux server DOMAIN by running "hostname -d" which returns "mycorp.com". Next the script runs nslookup -type=SRV _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com which fails ** server can't find _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com: NXDOMAIN and the

Question about KDC Resolution with Samba
> nslookup -type=SRV _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com > > ** server can't find _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com: NXDOMAIN > As 'hostname -d' is returning 'mycorp.com' it would seem that is the dns domain your computer is in. 'mycorp.com' != 'wgname.ad.mycorp.com' (which appears to be the dns domain of your DC) and Samba does not do subdomains or to put it

[blkback] blkback statistic counters are signed values
Hi, One of our colleagues spotted a problem in xentop. Sometimes the VBD_WSECT value suddenly becomes unreasonably high, and it turned out xentop reads /sys/bus/xen-backend/devices/vbd-(domid)-(devID)/statistics/wr_sect into an unsigned long long. That value is exposed by blkback, and among other stat counters, it''s a signed integer: drivers/block/xen-blkback/common.h struct

[PATCH] tracing/events: Add bounce tracing to swiotbl-xen
Ftrace is currently not able to detect when SWIOTLB has to do double buffering under Xen. You can only see it indirectly in function_graph, when xen_swiotlb_map_page() doesn't stop after range_straddles_page_boundary(), but calls spinlock functions, memcpy() and xen_phys_to_bus() as well. This patch introduces the swiotlb-xen:bounced event, which also prints out the following informations to

dovecot sasl auth (pam) + postfix doesn't work...
hello, i tried to use the "dovecot sasl" with postfix using pam as backend (actually pam_krb5) but it doesn't work. dovecot runs well as pop3 server authenticating with the pam_krb5 module with the config below, but it doesn't even connect with the kerberos server (a remote AD 2003) when it's called from postfix. --------dovecot.conf--------- protocols = pop3 pop3s imap

[PATCH] xen/grant-table: Refactor gnttab_[un]map_refs to avoid m2p_override
(This is a continuation of "[PATCH v9] xen/grant-table: Avoid m2p_override during mapping") The grant mapping API does m2p_override unnecessarily: only gntdev needs it, for blkback and future netback patches it just cause a lock contention, as those pages never go to userspace. Therefore this series does the following: - the bulk of the original function (everything after the mapping

Issue with Bind
I followed the Howto http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO Using: -Samba4 alpha15 -Bind9.8.0 When I added an XP PC (192.168.123.244) to my domain I got this in syslog: May 11 12:04:18 samba4 named[10705]: client 192.168.123.244#1061: update 'mydomain.com/IN' denied May 11 12:04:18 samba4 named[10705]: tkey.c:486: ENSURE(result == (((1) << 16) + 28) || result == 0) failed,

Function failure in tm
HI all: I have a customized source reader for the package tm (that Milan Bouchet-Vallat has been instrumental in producing). I can get it to produce a corpus of class: "VCorpus" "Corpus" "list" class(mycorp[1]) returns "VCorpus" "Corpus" "list" and class(mycorp[[1]] returns "PlainTextDocument"

Sso the Linux way?
So I was googling around about this over the last week and here is what I found: nis/yp is for some reason bad. Kerbos is holy, but no how-to's that don't involve windows and active directory. What is the recommended sso approach for centos? Where are there examples / docs to follow? Jason -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -

Issues post AD migration
Hi , We ran the classic upgrade and migrated the domain . We were then able to add a Windows Server 2008R2 and dcpromo it. Here are some of the issues we are seeing post migration - Pre the migration, the password backend was LDAP. We had some groups that we had migrated into LDAP from TBD. These groups doesn't seem to have come up in AD. - Any groups that were created in

Sieve > Pigeonhole > external storage with LDAP or other data source available to dovecot
I am looking at porting and generalizing an old in-house patch that I'm using for the CMU Sieve plugin. It allows sieve script to test & lookup arguments from LDAP. Before getting too involved in this, I'd like to discuss my goals here in the hopes that someone else also thinks this would be useful. Many heads may make better design? Goal: ------ Allows scripts which are still

Samba4 Internal DNS - CNAME not working
Hello, It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for this? This is identical to the problem with MX records. This is currently a much bigger problem than the MX records. I appreciate any assistance. Failure demoting 2008_R2 DC (S4rc5)
Hello, We are currently testing S4rc5 for an upcoming S3 to S4 migration. I am able to duplicate this issue with both classicupgrade and a new provision (both cases using internal DNS). I am able to join a 2008R2 system to the domain and promote it to a DC, however I am unable to demote it. The problem appears to be that the 2008R2 server fails replicating to the S4 DC. The specific error that I
