title tags -- languages
I'm not sure if this falls within the scope of tag data, somewhere else, or if there's any provision for it at all: I have a lot of songs whose native titles are in Japanese. For example, I have a song titled "螟". The filename for this song would be "02 - yume [Dream].ogg" (or even "02 - 螟 (yume) [Dream].ogg".) To automatically name this file, I'd need

vorbisfile timestamp oddity
I'm seeing some inconsistency in returned timestamps using vorbisfile. I open a file, read some data (grabbing timestamps with ov_pcm_tell), then seek back with ov_pcm_seek(vf, 0) and read it again. The seek lands back on 0, but on the second read through, there's a gap in the timestamps: they jumps up by 2112 frames. This causes my vorbisfile code to insert silence to maintain sync (as

Bad substitution for %a variable
Hi, The %a variable is not well substituted for XP64. For separation of profiles of different OS we use the %a variable: logon path = \\%L\Profiles\%U\%a With samba3021b the variable points to Win2K for XP64! This result in trouble with the user profiles! Walter

smb.conf 3.0.7 -> 3.0.23c domain master problem
Hi all, We have an old 3.0.7 samba running as PDC. As we have problems with XP64 clients accessing the domain, I compiled a 3.0.23c and copied the smb.conf. Some of the client work well with the new Samba, but most of them do not. Was there any relevant change in the smb.conf part between the two versions? Thanks Bgs

Samba 3.0.0 PDC, XP SP1, and domain joining woes.
Greetings, you kind and wonderful people. I've spent the past few hours or so (read: all day) attempting to get a basic PDC up and running, with no success. I've even gone to the extent of copying John Herpstra's config, which contains all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff, in the hope that he had something I missed. He didn't. I've got one box running debian testing, with

patches for xiph build setup
Hi, I offered some time ago to do some build cleanup. Today I did so and here's my slew of patches. Basically, they - touch ogg, vorbis, vorbis-tools and theora - fix a bunch of autotools issues - uniformize the use of them across the four - fix compile/link flags - use pkgconfig if it's available to detect flags - for vorbis-tools, generate and use config.h - add -uninstalled .pc stuff

Hello, I am running Samba 3.5.4-0.70.el5_6.1 on a Centos 5 machine. I have recently installed a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 workstation. Joining the Samba domain was successful however I am unable to login onto the machine with this domain. On my Windows XP64 bit it works ok. UTF8_LANG: a much better idea
I've found a much better solution; it's standard (in Unicode itself), simple and more flexible: Unicode language tagging. It was made for just this purpose, in fact. A technical description is at http://www.unicode.org/unicode/reports/tr27/#tag which, like all specs, makes it sound a bit more complicated than it really is. It comes down to this: mark the language of text with U+E0001

Question about .bs and .bss style bootsectors.
Hello Recently I've been happily experimenting with syslinux, replacing grub and my old bootmanager. All works beautifully, but I have one question - in case of .bss bootsectors - what exactly and under what circumstances is patched in ? With syslinux used as main bootmanager - bootsectors from xp64, xp32 and [pre-syslinux] msdos 7.1 (98se) work perfectly fine when chainloaded natively as

Samba guest no write access after update to samba -3.6.23-12.el6.x86_64
I have an established server initially created with CentOS 6.5 and updated weekly. Last week there was a massive update that I believe upgraded my server to 6.6. I had a number of issues after the upgrade---like my firewall being turned on and blocking all inbound ports. (I have an external firewall.) I've fixed all the issues created by this upgrade except for one. I have a number of samba

Determining the port assigned by -R 0
It's difficult to programmatically determine the port dynamically assigned by -R 0. The port is output in plain (and presumably localized) text, but I've found that by far the most common use of this is for scripts. Is there currently any sane way to get this information? For the short term I'll probably just parse the plaintext "Allocated port..." message, but that's

Xen VGA Passthrough - GTX 680 successfully hard-moded to GRID K2
Hi Gordan, I wanted to let you know that today I decided to have a try for my GTX 680. Gigabite GTX 680 2048 MB GDDR5. I know that this particular card could be hard-moded to GRID K2 so VGA passthrough could work. Following instructions found on http://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/hacking-nvidia-cards-into-their-professional-counterparts/420/ I just removed two resistors. Here is a screenshot
