Hi All, I have the following setup. Samba/LDAP PDC, Samba BDC, Samba member server, Win2K member server, 300 Win XP Client PCs. I can access the shares on the PDC from all Win XP clients. I can access the shares on the Win2K member server from all XP clients, I can't however access any of the shares on the Samba BDC or Samba member server from the XP clients. LDAP is working fine and

Home directory weirdness after upgrade from 3.0.33 to 3.5.6
Hi List, I've just updated from Samba 3.0.33 to 3.5.6 on my Centos 5.5 PDC and am having problems accessing home directories. To allow a backout option I set up a new server, put 3.0.33 on it, joined it to the domain and rsynced the home directories over with the flags necessary to maintain the permissions and user/group ownership. This worked and after completion I upgraded the new

Zero byte files
Hi all, I have a Centos 6 box running samba-3.6.9 and I have a problem with files turning to 0 bytes after being edited and saved. One of the users reported that he changed the name of two files and both ended up sized 0 bytes and opening them revealed them to be empty. Has anyone had a similar problem? I've been looking for 3 days and there's obvious pattern to the events

Hi all, I encountered a bug, that prevents me from moving mail and as a side effect it messes up all thunderbird/mozilla mail clients (they won't do any message copy/move until I restart them). Here is the info and the header of the mail that produces the error (a spam mail): Dovecot version: 1.0.0 Mail header: Return-Path: <xxdwwu at boboakes.com> Delivered-To: bgs-hu-bgs at

wbinfo problems and documentation questions
Hi all, I have a samba pdc running 3.0.20 + the patches on http://hostopia.samba.org/samba/patches running RHEL4 on an x86_64 platform. I have configured it to use an ldapsam backend per http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/2000users.html Since there is not much in the way of testing listed in the "2000users" section I used the tests listed under the making users happy

Samba PDC, LDAP and permissions
Hi all, I have a Samba PDC running on OpenSuSe 10 with LDAP as the backend and am running Mandriva 2006 as a member server with a few shares for users. The PDC seems OK and I've added the member using the instructions in the Samba example documents and I'm at the following point: OpenLDAP is running on the PDC itself. I can login to Linux as any LDAP user account suggesting that NSS

Samba 4 with LDAP proxy in DMZ
Hi All, I'm setting up a Samba AD domain which works perfectly with the WIn 7 server tools and so far everything is going fine. What has me stumped is setting up an LDAP proxy in our DMZ against which I can authenticate our email and web services. I've got port 389 open on my main Samba 4 DC and if I use the domain administrator account to bind the proxy, everything works. In order

cupsaddsmb
Hi all, I'm trying to add printers with cupsaddsmb on Samba 3.0.20 (Mandrake Linux) with an LDAP backend. I've followed the howto on the samba page and have the error: result was WERR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME generated when I run it. So far I've Googled for the solution but nothing listed has helped. The full set of errors are as follows: Cupsaddsmb returns:

ldapsam cannot find NT password hash
Hello! I've been digging at this one for several days now, and haven't been able to figure out what's going on. Google searches haven't been particularly helpful, so maybe I am searching the wrong words. My LDAP server has the proper schema, and I have an attribute for my user: https://imgur.com/VRbM7s9 (yeah I know the password hash is there, but I don't care, because this

wins hook handling only own names
Hi all, It might be an easy problem, but I haven't found anything in the docs... I have a Samba3 PDC. I have wins hook set to a DNS update script. The script works fine, I tested it. My problem is that according to the scripts logging, samba only calls it for its own refresh. It only sends lines like this every 20 minutes: refresh SAMBA 20 259200 192.168.1.253 No client updates reach

smb.conf 3.0.7 -> 3.0.23c domain master problem
Hi all, We have an old 3.0.7 samba running as PDC. As we have problems with XP64 clients accessing the domain, I compiled a 3.0.23c and copied the smb.conf. Some of the client work well with the new Samba, but most of them do not. Was there any relevant change in the smb.conf part between the two versions? Thanks Bgs

mark incoming traffic
Greetings, I''d like to mark incoming traffic based on TOS to use the mar for backtraffic routing. I have two gateways on the same net and incoming traffic may arrive from any of them. I want the return packets to go the same way. My plan is: Normal traffic goes through default gw. Traffic from the other has TOS 0x08 set. I''d like to mark traffic with TOS and use fwmark

Samba+LDAP: NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL because of primary group SID mismatch
Hi, I'm trying to get my new samba server running for a few days now and I start losing my mind over not figuring out what I'm doing wrong. Here's my setup: OpenLDAP 2.4.21 server with ~15 groups and >100 users, all having a unix and a samba NT password stored in the LDAP as well as a User SID and Primary Group SID assigned and stored in the LDAP, derived from the SID of the LDAP

samba 3.0.14a works with ldapsam backend but not 3.5.10-125.el6
we are migrating our standalone Samba sever (3.0.14a) on a Solaris 10 box to an RHEL 6.3 box. Testing shows that on Solaris 3.0.14a works with both the OpenLDAP server we are currently using and the IPA2.2 server as LDAP backend. But 3.5.10-125.el6 on a RHEL 6.3 box does not work with either. I can still map a share with 3.5 as owner of the shared directory, but secondary group ownership does
