Folder redirection and "guest user (from session setup) not permitted to access this share" in logs
Hello, sambadmins. First some background. Server is (soon to be dist-upgraded) Debian Lenny 64-bit and samba version is 3.5.6~dfsg-3~bpo50+1. Samba as PDC, LDAP as passdb backend, pam/nss uses same ldap on Linux side, so all ID-s are "in sync". Locks settings are default. Windows XP SP3 as clients. Few weeks ago I started to see following in logs: [2011/06/08 15:17:51.766871, 2]

samba 3.5.3 time-stamping issue
I'm copying a windows share onto a samba share, with robocopy to preserve filetimes and ACL's, but I get a lot of "ERROR 50 (0x00000032) Time-stamping destination file ..." It seems samba does not like to change the timestamp to the original time. Robocopy uses the option /copyall These lines are from the log > [2010/05/20 11:50:37, 2] smbd/open.c:631(open_file) >

Unable to access share on Encrypted Partition
Hi, I would like some help. I am trying to set-up a share on an Encrypted Partition of my Home Server. I'm using opensuse 11.4 with samba version 3.5.7-3.5.1-2573-SUSE-SL11.4-i386. Problem authenticating users from openldap + samba
Hello, I have a Debian Squeeze server and want to configure Samba + OpenLDAP on it. Following some documentation I've found over Internet, I see that I must include the "samba schema" in OpenLDAP but apart from this, I've installed on the same server a software called "gosa" and it has a samba schema called "samba3.schema" which I don't know if

Cannot get user level access to shares
I'm setting up a new samba server under CentOS6.3, samba-3.5.10-125.el6.x86_64, and am running into a strange problem I am unable to solve. There's actually a bunch of problems, but I think they can be solved once this particular issue is fixed. Samba is set up as a PDC for WinXP clients. The old samba server bit the dust and I had many problems trying to migrate. So I started from

Samba3.5 + OpenLDAP config/install problem
System Summary: centos 6.2 samba 3.5 smbldap-tools 0.9.6 openldap 2.4.23 Hello, I am installing smb 3.5 on a CentOS 6.2 host using smbldap-tools. I've previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4 using smb 3.0 but CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the configurations cannot be moved straight across. Currently, when I attempt to connect to an smb share

Samba3x daily logged errors with Win7 clients
In the course of upgrading from CentOS 5.4 to CentOS 5.5 I changed from using the samba (v3.0.x) packages to the samba3x (v3.3.8) packages, mostly because the newer version was said to better support Win7. The Samba server services Linux, WinXP, and Win7 clients. Now I get many, many errors logged to the Samba logs shortly after 3:00 AM, but only from the Win7 clients. I get roughly 430

Samba working (has been for years) but logs full of NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Hi. My samba server is working for everybody but the logs are full of "NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED" messages So I turned logging a little higher and found out what shares/files are accessed when this happens. It, too, happens not to ALL users. I see this: guest user (from session setup) not permitted to access this share (TestPrograms) [2015/03/17 16:00:58.165672, 1]

windows7 and samba 3.4.7 in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Is there a specific way of doing the smb.conf to make windows7 join the domain? was able to make windows7 join in one instance but when is not successful in logging into the domain using a domain user and also cannot add a domain user to the local machine. From my initial attempts, I was able to join the win7 machine but after I upgraded to 3.4.7 everything seems to have gone to hell.

Using +<group> in "valid users" is not working
Hello to all, I have recently upgraded to SAMBA 3.4.2 on Solaris 10, and reconfigured it to use domain authentication (security = domain). We slapped guest authentication on most shares, with an explicit "valid users = ...." on a small number of sensitive shares. Due to the number of users we were looking at, we set up two UNIX groups "payroll" and "payoff" and
