Foe a while now, yum update has been failing on the perl-gettext
package with:
Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/Locale/gettext/gettext.so from install of perl-gettext-1.05-1.el5.rf conflicts with file from package perl-Locale-gettext-1.05-1.el5.rf

CentOS 5.2 Missing Dependancy
I am trying to install perl-Digest-Perl-MD5 from rf and it is failing suggesting it
needs /usr/bin/false. #yum whatprovides "/usr/bin/false" yields nothing.
My CentOS 5.1 machines don't have this, and this is the same list of yum install
items I always use when setting up assp.
Any idea what to do?

(a) WinPower RPM available? (b) where to install if use tar.gz file?
Two quick and simple questions; I want to install the "WinPower"
software for my new UPS. On their web site, they have a tar.gz file
available for download. I know the reasons for staying with RPM, if at
all possible. I''ve Googled and Yahood for ""WinPower"+RPM+Linux and
get hits, but no obvious RPM. I tried "yum install winpower" and the
response was

latest clamav update from rpmforge...no joy - CentOS5
Hi group,
An easy question, I'm sure.
I'm trying to update clamav to the new 0.91 version from rpmforge. I've
v 90.3 installed (through yum).
Executing:
"yum update clamav" returns:

Problems with some rpms in my local repo
This is perplexing.
on a Centos 5.1 box that I am trying to upgrade, I keep getting:
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error unknown url type: media>
from my local repo. I did a blank system install via http from this
server with no problem.
For instance, if I limit myself to:
yum upgrade yum
I get:

perl one-liner issue
I am trying to deduce the one liner for an rpm I am packaging to edit a php
configuration file from within my spec. The line I am editing looks like:
$conf['nagios_base'] = "/nagios/cgi-bin";
What are the escape requirements Perl needs from within the shell to
search for this?
As I have seen, the syntax is a mess, any pointers would be appreciated!

mutt execution by daemon
I have a user w/o a shell that runs an app as a daemon that needs to use
mutt to email an attachment from a script.
During testing when the app was ran as root everything worked:) Now that
we obviously are running as a user w/o a shell this little bit broke. I
used mutt as I needed to send the attachment as mime, and the ability
to specify a muttrc from the cli when executed was useful so we

possible corrupt rpm database
Hello,
I've got a centos5 box that at least has a dependency issue or a corrupt
rpm database. I am open to suggestions as to how to proceed. I have added
some extra repositories to my yum configuration, centosplus, rpmforge,
atrpms, and the kbs repos. I haven't been having issues with installs or
upgrades until today when i ran a yum update, and got a missing dependency

"yum update" did not update kernel on one box
This morning, I did "yum update" on my wife's box. It did not update the
kernel. I ran the command again, and there is a response that no updates
are available. Her box is a Compaq Evo D300v Celeron. During the past
couple of days, when I did "yum update", on my daughters box and mine
(Dell Dimensions), the kernel was updated and in the GRUB menus now,

Questions about kernel updates
The latest CentOS 5 kernel, 2.6.18-8.1.15.el5 broke my box and I had to
drop back to 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5 before I could play DVDs with either Xine
or mplayer. ( xine-0.99.5-1.el5.rf & mplayer-1.0-0.36.rc1try2.el5.rf ).
This is no big deal to me -- as long as I can make certain that the
older kernel doesn't go away.
If I understand the installonly plugin correctly, an entry of tokeep=4

error rsyncing large file
Trying to rsync a rather large file from a windows server to a centos server
and all but this is working fine.
As it's a 20 gig file I am trying to send the diff of with a -c, I suspect over
the low bandwidth this presents an issue. I also stage this file locally on another
centos server and could calc the diff and create a patch and send that, comparing
checksums etc...

Logging into Windows 2003 Active Directory
I have been searching the net for directions on rhel and centos 5(1) to log in to a windows domain and have found many examples, all different and none work for me.
Is there a hint to some documentation anyone here knows of that actually works?
Thanks!

Missing Dependency subversion is needed by package subversion-ruby
Greets.
I''m currently trying to install GIT on an RHEL5 box. I''ve tried to
both build from source and install via yum. In both instances I
continue to receive the error message (full error stack at the end):

If I''m reading this correctly I''m seeing that svn
