pam_smbpass.so passdb.tdb support
Hi, Recently I have installed samba 3.4.8 on my device. Since then ftp (vsftp, proftpd) which is taking users from samba database with pam_smbpass.so is not working. After enabling detailed log I have noticed it is looking for the passwords in smbpasswd (/etc/samba/private) which is of zero size . I think all users passwd are located in passwd.tdb.I could fix this by giving "passdb

Dear Jeremy and samba team , This is suresh from EMC.I am having samba 3.4.8 on my NAS with posix acls support. When a backup software backs up files and folders, it typically backs up the security settings on the files/folders too. Then during restore, the software will try to restore the files/folders along with their security settings. The restore is now broken because security settings

Batch mode scenario ("use case")
Hello, I came up with this scenario of the use of batch mode while thinking of back-up schemes to use for myself. However, it could be that the last step needed in this scenario is not supported by rsync! Here's the scenario: At one time, /c/home/wer/work and /e/gold had identical content and were really huge (say, 200 GBytes). After some complex, intricate work, Mr. Wer

Samba3-beta1 as a PDC and using tdbsam as passdb backend it takes the home-directory info from /etc/passwd
I didn't get any answers so I try again: I am using tdbsam as passdb backand. I have added root user with pdbedit. The machine trust account was added on the fly. I have added the user with pdbedit. I have created the user in /etc/passwd. When the user logs in from a W2k and mounts the home-directory I noticed that Samba didn't take the home-directory information from tdbsam, it

Difficulty in creating and adding principal using net utility
Hi Jeremy, Jerry and samba experts, This is Suresh from EMC . I am having difficulty in creating and adding a Kerberos principal using samba's net utility. This server is configured as a Winbind client to a Windows 2003 Active Directory. I've successfully bound it to AD and I am able to authenticate. If I log into this host I am properly issued a Kerberos ticket from AD so it would

Hi, We have been using Samba File Server (Version 4.3.11 Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) for quite sometime now. We recently installed Samba-AD (Samba AD Version 4.7.6) and made the file server a member of the Domain. Everything was fine till around 11:15 am yesterday. We just added one more share folder and gave access to three users and restarted Samba File Server services - smbd, nmbd and winbindd -

Availability of the 1.1.1 stable version
I just tried decoding with v1.1: ./opus_demo -d 48000 2 opus_encoded_crash.opus out.pcm and I see no issue (including with valgrind). Does the same command-line create problems for you? What compile flags did you use? fixed-point or float, any assembly, ...? Could be assembly here, or even a compiler bug wouldn't be unheard of. REPOST: Changing from Mixed mode to pure Active Directory
I need to move a Samba 2.2.1 server form a Windows 2000 Domain network that is currently running in Mixed mode with a domain name if "ABC" to a pure Windows 2000 Active Directory network with a domain of "ABC.net". Do I need to do anything other than change the domain controller name listed in the password server property in the smb.conf? Thanks! Devin M. Rader, MCP
