winbind nsswitch problem
Greetings list, I'm using samba 3.0.23a on a Fedora Core 5 system in a member server role in an Active Directory domain (security ads). My problem is that, although wbinfo -u and -g work great and can pull user and group lists respectively from AD, getent passwd and getent group do not. I've configured passwd: files winbind and group: files winbind in nsswitch.conf, and have

Odd behavior of winbind
Hi, I have an odd problem with winbind. I use it for, among other thing, nsswitch user resolution. I believe it have a problem with accessing information for a single user, or with caching. When I request info for a specific user, it fail (trying to login also fail with NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER). But it work when I request info for all users. And then, login and getent for single account start

Winbind and Samba/LDAP PDC
Hi Samba Users, I am currently in the process of migrating from an NT4 Domain to a Samba/LDAP Domain. I am already running a number of samba servers which are domain member servers in the existing domain. They retrieve their account information from the NT4 PDC using winbind. So far i have completed the NT4 to Samba/LDAP migration as described in chapter 9 of Samba by Example up to the point

Synchronize Unix/SMB passwords with 'synchpasswd'
Hi, It's been a while since I created my smbpasswd file, and therefore it is no longer in synch with my Unix file. I've added and removed users over time, and now I need a way to update the 'smbpasswd' file without losing the encrypted passwords that are already in place (ie. I don't want to just run 'makesmbpasswd.sh' again). So, I've written the

Domain trust relationship between Samba 3.0.21c and AD 2003
Hello, I have two domains: - a domain FRANCE on a SAMBA PDC called "SARGE" - a domain DOMAINTEST on a Active Directory called "SRV2003-2" I followed the samba howto chapter on setting a domain trust relationship between this two domains. For now, I just want DOMAINTEST users to log on shares of the FRANCE domain. On Windows 2003 side, with the MMC I can check/revalidate

winbind: how to fix uid/SID mapping following migration to a new DC
Hi there. Our IT moved all the user accounts to a new domain controller. It wasn't much of a migration, more so a complete setup on a new machine, new OS, new domain ; it just happens that the username and group names remained the same. I have been asked to look after the migration of the existing unix servers (linux and freebsd running samba 3.4). All the unix machine use winbind for

CentOS 5.3 samba: getent does not return data from the active directory (ads)
CentOS 5.3 getent does not return data from the active directory (ads) I have installed and configured kerberos and samba so that the server can be a member of an existing Active Directory (AD). Correct configuration of kerbos was verified using kinit and klist. The samba configuration was verified by using "smbclient -k -L server". winbind was verified by using "wbinfo

compiling samba 3.0
Has anyone had problems compiling samba 3.0, specifically the wb_client.c file? I have having problems with slack 9.1 while my slack 9.0 boxes are ok. The only difference that I think would have caused any problem is that on the slack 9.1 box I installed libnss from mozilla in /usr/local/ so that gaim 0.71 would compile the new msn plugin. This problem is not just related to slackware. I found

I am also having this issue, however in my case it is worse - samba shares do not work and "getent passwd <domain user>" also does not work. I tried adding the following to the "[global]" section of my smb.conf as suggested elsewhere, but no improvement: client ldap sasl wrapping = plain My smb.conf is very similar to yours, however I also have the following options set:

Home Phone <-> SPA3000 <-> Asterisk Home <- IAX2 over Internet <-> Asterisk Office The voice mail for Home Phone is hosted on the Asterisk Office machine. I wanted to have a way to check the status of my voicemail on my home phone directly. In order to do so, I've patched both Asterisk Home and
