mount.cifs and Umlaut in share name
Hello, I need to mount a CIFS share (in the end via fstab, for now manually from terminal) which has both a space and a german umlaut in its name. I cannot get mount.cifs to mount it, it always complains it cannot find it. I managed to get around the space problem in fstab with the \040 trick, but I cannot find a way to correctly encode the umlaut. When looking at the output of "mount.cifs

systemd automount of cifs share hangs
*** This response is my personal opinion and may not reflect that of my employer. *** I have never used the .automount file.... I have the .mount file configured for various SAMBA shares, and I simply issued "systemctl enable share-x-y-z.mount" to get them to mount on boot. systemd automount of cifs share hangs
Running latest CentOS 7.5. Since I found out about automount unit files I've had mixed results using them to mount shares from my NAS. Lately they seem to hang if I touch the mount point, but I can start the mount unit without problems. I had it working months ago, so I'm thinking something changed in the systemd updates. For each mount point, I have two files in /etc/systemd/system

mount cifs with sec=krb5
Hi, I am trying to mount fileserver (samba, 10.20.30.16) shares on a linux domain member server, where I logged on via ssh using AD my credentials. I am unable to get past the "mount error(126): Required key not available" error message. I have read and googled a lot, and could use some help. See this: > domainuser at memberserver-45:~$ sudo tail -f /var/log/debug & >

reliability of mounting shares while login
Hi @all, I have some problems when using pam_mount.conf.xml to mount shares via kerberos (and also for ntlm) regarding reliability of the mount. I have tested the issue with 2 different environments. My environments are: 2 Microsoft Domain Controllers + a separate fileserver and Ubuntu 18.04 or 22.04 as clients. My other tested environment is one Microsoft Server 2019 (as domain controller and

Wrong perms on new files/dirs using `mount -t cifs`
My original thread had the incorrect subject line. The original trouble / question remains open and unsolved. Greetings- I am working through coming up with a Linux client integration to Samba PDC's. I mount several shares with this sort of syntax: /bin/mount -t cifs -o credentials=/home/userid/.smbcredentials,uid=userid,gid=userid,dmask=0777,fmask=0666 //ldslnx01/data /mnt/ldslnx01/data/

Wrong user used when mounting with mount.cifs
This may be sorta off topic considering this is probably regarding the linux kernel but I am hoping someone here will have the answer anyway. I am having the strangest problem when mounting a samba share with "-t cifs" as opposed to "-t smbfs" where, instead of mounting as the user I am logged in as, it is mounted as if I were logged on as a completely different user.
