Hosts leaving domain without reasons...
Hello all, I've got Samba 3.0.24-6etch4 (Debian revision) running on a production server which acts as a PDC for a network of some Windows XP clients (around 250). Since sometime (I am not able to determine exactly when) I get a strange problem arising : some clients are banned from my domain. The only solution I found is to reintroduced the clients into the domain. Once hosts have rejoined

Problem with trust relationship
Hello everyone, I have a Samba 3.4.7 + OpenLDAP working as PDC. Since this morning, some computers, mainly the ones with Windows 7, are getting trust relationship problems and I cannot find the source of the problem. All my windows boxes do automatic updates, and there was a pack of 9 or 10 updates yesterday, but i don't know if this have some relation with the problem. I don't know

Windows 7 machine trust accounts expiring
There was an earlier thread about failing trust relationships between Windows 7 and Samba. Since we occasionally experience the same problem with Win 7 clients against a Samba 3.5.4 server, I investigated this a bit further. I think it happens when - the time to change the machine password has arrived - the Win 7 machine is up, but no one is logged on (login box is shown on the screen). To

Mystery Samba (3.4.1) and Win7
Hi! I read many threads and tried many "solutions" but I can't get Win7 (RTM, 64 bit) and Samba 3.4.1 to work together. I am still failing with the "trusteeship" problem during the first logon after domain join. Is there a working solution? regards Martin

Samba Domain & XP
I am not able to join an XP Machine to a Samba domain. I am able to complete all the procedure until the reboot, bur after the Windows reboot, at the login, the windows says that it is not possible to contact the Primary domain controller. No debug arrive to samba at the login. The machine trust on the domain is done correctly with "on the fly" tecnique. Do someone have the same

Reestablishing trust with PDC
I often change configurations in a home server environment, and have scripts to back up all config files etc. - on a fresh OS install I can quickly restore function of all the services I'm running. I'm using version 3.4.7 as a PDC on Ubuntu with 4 Windows 7 clients. I can restore smb.conf which gets the file shares and server configuration back, but I lose the trust relationship with the

windows 7 unable to join domain
Hi, I'm currently running Samba3x-3.3.8-0.51 on CentOS 5.5. I currently have many Windows XP clients associated with the domain and behaving correctly. However, I am unable to join a Windows 7 PC. I receive "The specified network name is no longer available." I've verified that DNS is configured correctly, and as stated XP machines have no problem joining. Per some googling,

smbd hanging on OS X 10.4.8
Hi, If process all my mounts prior to the "..." bit below. It looks as if it's hanging while processing some printer config. On that assumption and since I don't and never have had any printers attached, I've commented out the '[printers]' section from smb.conf. No section contains a 'printable = yes'. I've tried with all sections containing 'printable

Old SAMBA and WinXP....
Ok, here's a simple question, (I just rejoined this list so apologies if it has been asked a million times before). Our Company runs SAMBA 1.9-18p1 from a USS (Unix System Services) on an IBM Mainframe. I used to have WinNT 4.0, and I could access Files on Windows Explorer through SAMBA with no problems. Now I updated one of my workstations to WinXP Pro., and - no access to the Samba

samba 4.0.6 getent group
Hello all listies. I've got samba4.0.6 running on FreeBSD 9.1. Joined W2K12 domain as member server. running getent group I noticed it takes a long time to resolve groups. The result is correct, but it is inordinately long. With 3.6.13 on FreeBSD 9.1 the return is nearly instantaneous. smb4.conf looks like this. [global] workgroup = TMS3 security = ADS realm = TMS3.COM encrypt

RE : Example of command ". / Setup / provision"
SNIP > > > How to know the NetBIOS name in Linux? Linux does not care. Only Windows cares. > > > > The name of my domain is: DOMAINE.CH > The name of my server: SERVEUR-TPI The posix name of the server does not matter. Nor does the DNS name as it can have more than one DNS name. You need to work with Samba as a somewhat separate entity. It is simply easier to match
