Active Directory Integration Problems
Hello everyone, I have setup Samba 3.0.28a on an Ubuntu 8.04 server. The setup that I am working with is an exact copy (as far as I can tell) if an identical installation that I did on a test box. Kerberos is setup and working properly. I can use kinit to issue tickets. The box has been successfully joined to the Active Directory domain. I can enumerate AD users and groups. I can log

100% CPU using OSX client
Hi there, Normally happy OSX (10.6.4) user here. I am accessing a samba share on my Gentoo linux machine (i know, i know...) which is running samba-3.4.9 at the moment. When I try to copy files from a CD on my mac to the smb:// share, after every few files the transfer will pause for a few seconds, and during the pause the linux machine will use 100% cpu - the result is a very obvious

winbind + Active Directory + email
Ok, I can't seem to search for the right thing to get what I need. I'm looking for a solution where if quota or some other mailing system needs to send an email to an Active Directory user, that it uses the email address listed in Active Directory for that user. We are connected to Active Directory using winbind, on one system we are using pam_winbind, on another we are not. Of course,

OSX client, Linux server, permissions problem
I've been using samba for some time and have always had a good experience. I decided to try and configure my home network to let all my computers talk to the samba share. I'm stuck on one part where my OSX client, when creating new files/directories, won't create them writeable by the group. I've tried what seems like every combination of directory mask, force directory

[LLVMdev] Gentoo ebuild of LLVM
Hi guys, there are few issues concerning LLVM and Gento Linux below. 1. Gentoo encourages to think of smarter packaging. Oversimplified, but... there are at least three audiences using LLVM: - application users - developers *using* LLVM in their projects - developers *changing* LLVM sources. Application users are not interested in LLVM, they are rather interested to have their favorite

libshout, ices, and icecast2 CVS Ebuilds
All - I've just posted a set of ebuilds (package format for the Gentoo distribution) in my web space. I figure I'm not the only one hacking on icecast that uses Gentoo and these haven't made it into the main Portage tree just yet. To use them, place them in the following locations underneath a Portage overlay directory (i.e. /usr/local/portage): icecast2-cvs-2.0.ebuild into

Samba + ADS - Filepermissions home directories
I configured winbind, samba and pam.d to authenticate via our Windows Active Directory Server. Everything works fine, I can log on to the system using my Windows Account credentials, I am also able to access the samba home share, but I have no write permissions there. What I don't get is: When I give read-write-access to everybody (chmod 777 /home/%USER%), I am able to create and delete

How to replace match words whith colum name of data frame?
Dear ?, I'm sure that there are many ways to do what you want; here's one: > cbind(concept_df, category= + ifelse(apply( + sapply(chemical_df$chemical, + function(x) grepl(x, concept_df$concept)), + 1, any), + "chemical", "")) concept category 1 butan

3.4.6 to 3.5.2 difficulties
Did an upgrade from samba 3.4.6 to 3.5.2 Left the smb.conf completely unchanged. As background I'm using samba on gentoo amd64 with a ldapsam backend on openldap. Upgrade went well, I thought. Users could login and access their home directories. Service reloaded without issue. Here was the issue though, windows 2003 servers couldn't login users into the domain. These servers were

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
OK, I actually now feel a bit bad on this. As we did a lot of debugging without actually finding any solutions my focus went more and more into direction of code bug somewhere in Samba/Kerberos area. I found some references that Samba uses an internal specific version of Heimdal. Though it looks like the Gentoo developers went to disable the built-in Heimdal implementation if favor of a

updated gentoo ebuild provides dovecot-sieve
I'm hoping that there are some Gentoo users on this list who will chime in on a bug that is near and dear to my heart. We've created an updated Gentoo ebuild that adds a sieve USE flag and builds dovecot-sieve if the use flag is enabled. The gentoo bug is here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141743 and the ebuild is available as an attachment to that bug, or as a patch

Unable to emerge Wine 1.1.5 on Gentoo AMD64
Hello, I am currently trying to emerge wine on my Gentoo AMD64 system, and it is currently failing on the last package. I haven't been able to make much sense out of the error message. If anyone knows what is going on or can otherwise point me to where I should look or anything to try, it would be greatly appreciated. Here is the error I am getting: make: *** [programs] Error 2 * *

Gentoo ebuild
Hi! Since I switched from SuSE to Gentoo (before Novell era :-) I wrote a simple ebuild script for building wxruby on Gentoo. Few notes: a) in order to work, wxruby-0.1.0.tgz should contain wxruby-0.1.0 folder since it is a Gentoo policy and I hope it''s not a problem to change that for 0.2.0 b) I assumed that one needs Ruby >= 1.8.0 and wx >= 2.4.1. Is it OK? Please inspect

I'm using Gentoo and the official portage tree doesn't have a liquidsoap ebuild. I noticed that Savonet actually prepared its own ebuilds but they are a bit outdated (2007). I could build directly from source but I'd prefer to do it via

Chemical Names in Data Frames
Greetings - I am working on some data that contain chemical names with air concentrations, and I am creating a data frame with date/time and each chemical having its own column. However, these are organic chemicals (e.g. 1-butene, 2,3,4-trimethylbenzene etc). The package I am going to be using the data with is openair, and many of the great functions require you to specify a column name which

Logistic Regression with genetic component
Greetings, I have a question that I'd like to get input on. I have a classic toxicology study where I artificially fertilized and exposed embryos to a chemical and counted defects. In addition, I kept track of male-female pairs that I used to artificially fertilize and generate embryos with. I need to use logistic regression to model the response, but also check that the genetics of the
