CentOS 6 and android connectivity (Nook)
So, I got my wife a Nook for her b'day. I just plugged it into my system, CentOS 6.5, and what I see is /media/NOOK, and it shows 257k or so - yes, k, not m or g. It's *not* seeing any directories, etc, and the small thing I'm guessing is firmware, since even when I try mount -o remount -rw, it is still r/o. Googling, I see mentions of fsmtp, I think it was, and yum shows some mtp

For the OP: Did you even try Google before asking the list? Google should always be your first choice. http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/linux-iphone-6.html For Scott: If you install the VLC app on the iPad you can probably skip the transcoding and also having to add the video to iTunes first. You'll only need to transcode the audio if it uses AC3, which is proprietary and the owners

CentOSPlus Kernel for 586?
I have the problem that I almost never throw anything away that can still be useful. In itself, not bad. Combined with the "World We Live In" (TM), a "Less Than Optimal Behavior" (SM). I need some of the features in CentOSPlus kernels for my 586 (K6-III). 1) I don't mind doing it myself and contributing results, if that's what it takes. Only having LFS experience (rpm

Bug? FORTTRAN help
I was feeling masochistic the other day and we have been having some wierd memory problems so I started digging into the source for L-BFGS-B. In the lbgfsb.c file I see the following code: /* Cholesky factorization of (2,2) block of wn. */ F77_CALL(dpofa)(&wn[*col + 1 + (*col + 1) * wn_dim1], &m2, col, info); if (*info != 0) { *info = -2; return; } If I am not mistaken

XML Storage?
Hey Folks, Now that all the fun and games of learning Rails has almost sunk in it''s time to build something useful. I am tasked with building a system to control and search our large (and I mean large 1.5 million + and growing) photograph collection. I have been building databases for years and after thinking about the situation we decided that trying to store the

[RFC/PATCH 14/15] guest: detect when running on kvm
From: Christian Borntraeger <borntraeger at de.ibm.com> From: Carsten Otte <cotte at de.ibm.com> This patch adds functionality to detect if the kernel runs under the KVM hypervisor. A macro MACHINE_IS_KVM is exported for device drivers. This allows drivers to skip device detection if the systems runs non-virtualized. We also define a preferred console to avoid having the ttyS0, which

local users in a domain...
so I have some local users that I'd like to show up in my samba domain a bit more properly, but it's infeasable to add their accounts to the ldap directory proper. I've tried to create an idmap entry (probably wrong) and a structural SID with a sam account pointing to the numeric UID and a proper name for the unix account, but it still shows up as UNIX-USER/accountname. what am

An old ld-linux.so hole
Section I. Overview Hello, About a half year ago there was some rumour on bugtraq concerning a buffer overflow in Linux dynamic linkers, ld.so and ld-linux.so. You can take a look at the beginning of the thread at http://www.geek-girl.com/bugtraq/1997_3/0089.html to refresh old memories; I''ll capitalize anyway. Briefly, there exists a buffer overrun in ld-linux.so versions 1.7.14,

[LLVMdev] LLVM documentation work help
Sean, It is not work even though I change the PDF link as you indicated. I think I can just use directory/link https://github.com/Jonathan2251/lbd/tree/gh-pages instead http://jonathan2251.github.com/lbd/WriteAnLLVMBackendTutorialForCpu0.pdf as a work around solution. User can click the link and click left top button "ZIP" and get the epub and pdf. Jonathan --- 12/12/4 (二),Sean Silva

Combatting DDoS attack
Hi, I''ve been working the past 8 hrs combatting DDoS attacks on websites and dedicated servers I host for clients. They''re hitting one specific IP address, but coming from thousands of external IP addresses. I use: shorewall-4.0.10-3.noarch How can I tackle this? I''ve blocked many subnets in the blacklist file but it''s made very little difference. If

Dispatch.fcgi h-e-double hockey sticks...
Hello Everyone ~ Last week I started having a dispatch.fcgi process go out of control on my Linux server. If I don''t catch it the process will eat my RAM, and devour my swap file until the machine becomes non-responsive. I am running Lighttpd and have not had any issues until lately. The logs are not telling me anything useful, and as a quick fix I am running the site using Mongrel,
