Primary Group SID incorrect - ahhhh
Hi, I'm running 3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1 .. migrating from 3.0.21a with an LDAP back-end. I've use slapadd to import the LDIF file I've exported from my original samba server, but it seems like samba isn't grabbing the Primary Group SID from the ldif file. For Example: dn: uid=chris,ou=Users,dc=orgon,dc=com sambaSID: S-1-5-21-3318375643-2463009161-752822123-3028 sambaPrimaryGroupSID:

pdbedit "password must change" not following policy
Hey everyone, I've got a file server (named success) running Samba version 3.0.10-1.4E. I've also got another file server (named happiness) running Samba version 3.3.15 and LDAP. I've got success pointed to happiness for LDAP in the smb.conf, and running a "pdbedit -v user" works, it shows the proper information...except for the password must expire, it seemingly ignores

Windows 7 + Samba domain issues
Hi all, Earlier I emailed the list on some issues I was having with Windows 7, and one of those issues was the trust relationship breaking down after one month. I think I have some more light to shed on this topic. First, some environmental facts I am running Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 with Samba 3.4.0-3ubuntu5.1 I have installed the latest LDAP schema into OpenLDAP 2.4.18-0ubuntu1 I have a working

Samba 3.0.24 + OpenLDAP
I'm using the above version of Samba with OpenLDAP. I also use the smbldap-useradd script to add users, like below. I'm finding that I also have to have an account in /etc/passwd for the user to get in otherwise I get the message below. I thought that the ldapsam:ldap://localhost/ would not require the /etc/passwd entry. What did I miss? # Adding a User (doesn't work)

Samba BDC + LDAP failing to authenticate users

winbind fails "getent passwd eknuds"
Now I'm trying to make it so the Samba accounts can be used for user logins as well. Unfortunately I'm having a bit of trouble with winbind. Whenever I try to do a "getent passwd eknuds", it find the entry in the ldap sam, but the winbind log for my domain comes up with this and the getent displays nothing: [2007/03/07 15:48:46, 2] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:init_sam_from_ldap(541)

Multiple Samba accounts with the rights of a single Unix account?
Is it possible to have a standalone Samba server map different username/password pairs to a single Unix account? More specifically, I'll be using an external passdb (pdb-mysql or LDAP), and each username will only see a home directory with the same name. But I don't want to have to create a separate Unix account / UID for each username/password, the restriction by directory is enough.

openldap - samba
I am having a problem getting users that were added in smbldap-useradd to be able to login. After I add them they are visible, but you can see I get this error - pdb_get_group_sid: Failed to find Unix account for test10 I believe that this has something to do with nss_ldap. because doing a getent passwd, it doesn't display any smb info. Any debugging info or help would be amazing, I'm

ldap backend failing
Hi, I have an ldap provider and consumer that appear to work correctly, EG, new users are sync'ed and a search on either server (ldapsearch -x -b 'dc=example,dc=com' '(cn=djohn)') returns an oject. However when an XP user attempt to connect to the consumer server the authentication fails: [2011/06/10 16:11:21, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_data(1059) [2011/06/10 16:11:21, 0]

Cannot authenticate new ldap users (unless they are in /etc/passwd too)
Hi, I migrated a PDC to use an ldap backend and am having fun with a few last issues.. Existing user accounts and machine accounts were migrated, and existing users can authenticate. Now I've added some new users and none of them can authenticate. e.g. for the user "inktec". The user can login via SSH, but not mount a share: smbclient \\\\server3\\someshare -U=inktec mypassword
