require membership to two groups
I have some shares on a media server that are considdered "Local, offline content", namely they should be accessible if the rest of the network is down, and each system has it's own group of users who are allowed to maintain it. the media servers in the livingroom are only for my wife and I, but each person can modify the one in their own bedroom and noone elses bedroom.

printer drivers from windows 7 MMC?
I found a fancy, easy (seeming) way to add printer drivers in windows 7 since the old methods don't seem to work anymore. if you run mmc, you can add a snapin called print management, which enables you to manage various things (drivers, forms, ports, and printers to be most important). Problem is, I can't figure out how to use the "Drivers" method to add drivers. I get a

How to load an ISO as a “CD” to satisfy “insert CD” prompt?
I am trying to run my own legal copy of Propellerhead (http://www.propellerheads.se/) Reason 2.5 through Wine on latest Ubuntu on Asus (http://www.asus.com/) netbook, which has no optical drive. When the application starts, it asks me to ?Please insert the CD?, which I thought I knew how to do because after all, I had to mount the one of the three ISOs to start the installation. I run this

Corrupted ntprinters.tdb
Hi, we are experiencing periodic problems with our samba/cups setup: It seems like workstations which are locked but where users with the SePrintOperatorPrivilege are logged on destroy the ntprinters.tdb. This always takes place when the logrotate on the sambaserver runs the postrotatescript and restarts cups while the client is doing whatever it has to do. /var/log/messages says:

Rebirth on Wine
Hello, I am trying to get Propellerhead's Rebirth v2.0.1 running under wine. When i start the program, it loads for just half a second, and a I believe the point it is freezing at is when it tries to run a system analysis to determine whether or not your computer is powerful enough to run the software. Perhaps there is a way to bypass this test? I have read in a couple old newsgroup posts of

Problems with samba 3.4.3 as PDC for Windows 7
Hi all, I am testing Windows 7 Ult with Samba 3.4.3 as a PDC for Windows 7. I am using a simple, smb.conf file, domain name is "mygroup" without the quotations. Windows XP clients can join correctly and login as normal. However, with Windows 7, I can get the client to joint the domain, but when I reboot, I get a machine trust error and the user can not log onto the Windows 7 client.

error messages
I have a brand new in stall of samba4 on a FreeBSD 10 machine and I am getting these messages on the console practically all the time. I have actually disabled load printer list in globals but it does not seem to make any difference, I am not intending to use it as a printserver at all, just for files, it is to replace a system which is quite old and running out of space Jul 11 20:24:25

Why am i getting "Transport endpoint is not connected"
Hi, I got no replies to my last post "win 7 client can't map drive: getpeername failed" Anyway I've dug a little deeper on the server side by setting log level 10 and found the error: "Transport endpoint is not connected" Basically I compared the logs (several thousand lines!) from two windows 7 clients, one of which always works (the good client) and one which

One account can access samba, another can't.
My wife and I each have our own workstation dual-booting WinXP and Gentoo Linux. We also have a third which runs Gentoo all the time. I wanted to set up samba on the third box and provide some extra storage space for both our Windows installs. It worked for a few days, then all of a sudden it stopped letting my account (michael) in while still letting my wife's account (amy) use the share.
