Example ConfigurationSamba as a Domain Member Server
This method involves addition of the following parameters in the=20
smb.conf file:
security =3d domainworkgroup =3d MIDEARTH
In order for this method to work, the Samba server needs to join the=20
MS Windows NT security domain. This is done as follows:

Ogg in .NET
Hi,
I'm working on making a game in VB2008, and I'm hoping to use OGG
Vorbis-format music (because ogg files are tiny =D) in it. I've
googled for info on doing this, but all I've found are dead links and
non-free implementations... and when I tried compiling libogg ages ago
on Windows, I completely failed.
I've already worked out how to use DirectSound, so I really just need

NSS and group enumeration in CUPS...
I was used (in SambaNT/OpenLDAP) to put on CUPS configuration the
statement (/etc/cups/cups-files.conf):
SystemGroup printops
and add to 'printops' group some users that can manage cups.
Now i'm in AD mode. I'm in 'printops' group:

WIN40 printer driver on Solaris not being installed?
I am having problems with the driver installation for WIN40 (9x machines) in
Samba 2.2.5 / Samba 2.2.6pre2 on a Solaris 8 machine. I build binary packages
for both debian and solaris environments. For debian 2.2.5, I use the 2.2.5
source with the printing patch provided by Jerry Carter. I use the
packaging/Debian/debian systems to build and package the source. For Solaris
I use the

Printing with CUPS and PDF
Trying to get one Samba server to serve several printers through CUPS
and host a virtual PDF "printer" at the same time. I've gotten them
working separately, but not together, and I think I know why.
In the smb.conf man page under "print command":
"With printing = cups, and if SAMBA is compiled against libcups, any
manually set print command will be ignored."

samba, cups and cupsaddsmb
Hallo,
I have an old samba-cups printserver (debian woody), connected to the domain
through winbind,?that I must replace now.
I installed a new samba-cups server on a sarge machine. Windbind works, I can
get all users and groups.
I copied the generic windows postscript driver files as in cupsaddsmb-manpage
described to /usr/share/cups/drivers (tried also adobe drivers)
Also tried the same

Doubts about sharing a winprinter
Hi there,
I own a domestic lan with two computers, mine and my mother's one. Mine is called GREENDEMON and the other one is called BLUEDEMON and they both are configured to run on the REDLOCAL workgroup. I've Debian Woody running on GREENDEMON and Windows 98 running on BLUDEMON, with an attached Nec Silentwriter Superscript 610 printer. This printer is only compatible with Windows 9x

Printing banners
Hi
I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a UnixWare 7.1.3 box. I'd set up the Samba
printer shares, and it seemed to be working fine (only live for a couple
of weeks). However, I've just added some heavy users, and the printer
daemon keeps bombing out. I'd configured the printers to use lpr, but
someone suggested I should use lp, so I thought I'd give this a go at
the weekend.

local copy microsoft/credentials directory profile redirection
hello,
i've set up a domain controller to replace a production server.
both servers use profile redirection for all user environment directories.
my problem is that when logging onto the new domain and server, windows will
create in the %userprofile% local directory an Application Directory
containing Microsoft/Credentials/*SID*, although a copy exists on the
server.
this directory is used

winki article contribution
Dave Fernandes
I propose a much needed article on using cups from the command line.?
This article, fully written and used by myself will automate the
process of adding printers to any desktop or server just by running a
script file.? It will teach you lpadmin, lpstat, how to setup and
install drivers for printers and how to automate the process.
I find
this useful on client sites (who love linux

Cups printers autoloading and windows drivers
Hello samba team !
I have configured a samba4 printer with CUPS as backend. And I have
enabled the "load printers = yes" option in smb.conf.
Nearly everything works well !
-> Samba detect the CUPS printers
-> The printers appear automatically in the "printers" share
-> On windows 7 I can add the server the printmanagement.msc and I see
the printers
-> I can upload

rpcclient and setdriver
Hello,
I'm trying to use rpcclient 'setdriver' as an unprivileged user; a
special lpadmin user with very limited rights has been created, and
ownership of the location of driver files (/home/PrintDrivers) given to him.
when executing the smbclient and rpc commands like cupsaddsmb does,
nearly everything works fine, except the last command:
when i issue an rpcclient localhost -U

CUPS and system-config-printer question
I was tasked with migrating a bunch of printer entries from one box to another.
What I did is I got a list of printer names along with IP addresses and using the CUPS
lpadmin -p printer-name -E -v lpd://IP_ADDR/lp
I loaded them onto the new machine running RHEL 4.6.
Printer tests show that it works fine. And if I use the CUPS web interface at
http://localhost:631
Everything shows up.

HP Laserjet Printer Installation
Hi all,
I have a very good query related to printer sharing using samba. Following
is the scenario...
I had installed HP laserjet 9040Dn printer on redhat Enterprise linux 5.
Shared it using samba. Used winbind protocol to integrate linux with
windows AD 2003. Now i am able to see printer in Active directory as well
as linux computer account in AD. But unable to set option
lpadmin -p printer

Printing problem with CUPS and lp/lpr
I know that printing on Linux is somewhat of an art form, but I have
a fairly simple problem. I used the following command to configure a
networked printer (HP LaserJet 8150):
lpadmin -p name -E -v socket://name -m laserjet.ppd -u allow:all -
u deny:none
This added and enabled the printer, and I can print to it using the
print command from within a GUI application and PostScript

windows print migrator + "add printer command"
Hi all.
I was wondering if anyone had a successful exampel of using the "add
printer command" with cups so that the windows print migrator could be
utilised. Seeing as Jerry as spent time on this it would be a shame not to
know how to use it. ;-)
I'm guessing that it would be along the lines of:
add printer command = lpadmin option1 option2 && cupsaddsmb option1
but
