idmap LDAP branch never populates with Samba 3.4.1 - how do I debug ?
I've followed the instructions at
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix
which concerns how to setup idmap correctly with Samba > 3.0.25. I have
a trusted domain which has been successfully established. However, no
SID entries populate beneath ou=idmap and any logon to the trusted
domain will result in:

Cross-compile and directory locations
All,
I have cross-compiled 3.5.10 succesfully. The smbd binary can be executed,
e.g. ./smbd -b works fine. The smbd binary also allows me to override
directory locations, e.g. --libdir=/opt/lib. Unfortunately, other binaries
(like smbpasswd) cannot find their libraries because they are looking in the
wrong directory (/home/martin/result/.../lib), which only exist on the host
on which I compiled

ANNOUNCE: cifs-utils release 5.4 is ready for download
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Since we now have a fix of sorts for CVE-2012-1586, it seems like as
good a time as any to do a new release. Go forth, download and build
cifs-utils-5.4.
Highlights:
* the "rootsbindir" can now be specified at configure time
* mount.cifs now supports the -s option by passing "sloppy" to the
kernel in the options string

net command in sernet -samba 3.4 for RHEL
After upgrading a test machine to Sernet's 3.4 package, it looks like
the "net" command is gone. This was definitely there in the
redhat-supplied 3.0 build and I thought it was there in sernet's 3.3
build too. I installed all the rpm's - samba3-client, samba3-utils,
samba3-cifsmount.... am I missing something?

To whom it concern,
There was no problem at all with the installation of the Depot.
Before running the ./configure command I'm setting the following variables like this (as it's mentionned in the README file) :
export CFLAGS="-O -DWITH_SYSLOG -DGUEST_ACCOUNT=\\\"smbnull\\\""
export CPPFLAGS="-I/opt/iexpress/openldap/include"

The command and error message are as follows:
smbmount //localhost/share1 /tmp/mountest -o =
username=3Ddomainu1,password=3Dpassword
ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access Denied.)
SMB connection failed
I also checked the release note about the issue, and

unable to compile samba 3.0.28a on RHEL 5.1 i386
any ideas why it won't compile? running
/root/samba-3.0.28a/packaging/RHEL/makerpms.sh
eventually it gets to:
./autogen.sh: running script/mkversion.sh
./script/mkversion.sh: 'include/version.h' created for Samba("3.0.28a")
./autogen.sh: running autoheader -I. -Ilib/replace
./autogen.sh: running autoconf -I. -Ilib/replace
Now run ./configure and then make.

Debian Wheezy member server from backports to self compile
Hello,
I'm unable to update my Samba from 4.1.17 to 4.4.2. I'm looking to
build from tar instead. From what I gather the following should be the
steps taken.
./configure --without-ad-dc -- sbindir= /usr/sbin
--sysconfdir=/etc/samba/ --/usr/share/man/
make
make install
Am I missing something else? Thanks.

Samba building is broken when some libraries are specified to be built-in to binaries !
Ok.
But to the time in a short term period is there is way to make building
successfull ?
May be some temporal solution ?
One more, I need to build-in to binaries:
libreplace,libwinbind-client,libwbclien, that is
replace,winbind-client,wbclient "targets" while building all regarding
configure options specified below:
--prefix=/usr \
--enable-fhs \
