Problem with Samba 4 and Fedora Directory Server
Hi, I'm trying to integrate Samba with an existing CentOS Directory Server using the instructions at http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/LDAP_Backend/Fedora_DS I'm at the step "On both hosts, prepare the backend:" and use the code there, replacing the realm, domain, and password with my own, and I get this error: provision-backend: error: no such option: --ldap-manager-pass

iSCSI and LVM
Hi Everyone, I am going to get a storage server which will be connected to my Xen hosts via iSCSI/Ethernet. I wish to use LVM for the DomU disks. The storage server will have a RAID10 array, and 2 Xen hosts will connect to this (Each will have a 50% share of the RAID10 array, space wise). What is the best way to go about this? Should I: a) Split the RAID10 array into 2 partition on the

logging of ldap queries
Hi everyone, I am looking at a way to easily trace ldap queries to easily single out computers that have buggy software that download the whole AD (like a getent passwd with winbind enum users = yes for example). Increasing the debug level to 5 gives me the result I am looking for, however it is very very talkative and it fills up the log partition way too fast. I wanted to try to single out one

Synchronising password of some AD users with an external LDAP?
I'm in a situation where I should establish an external (i.e. non-AD) LDAP directory for my employer for various web-based authentication purposes. I don't think that Samba--or Windows AD, for that matter--in and itself would be the best tool for this purpose; so far I've been reviewing 389 DS, ApacheDS, OpenDJ and plain old OpenLDAP, but have made no final decision yet. Now however,

Samba4 A11 Provision Fails on 389-DS - Fedora 12
Following the instructions here ( http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/LDAP_Backend/Fedora_DS_1.2.3), I got to the DS provisioning step and encountered an error trying to provision the 389-DS (v1.2.3 B2009.280.1622). The source was checked out around 12/30/2009 ~16:00 GMT following the instructions provided in the 'howto'. I have made sure that system.domain-test.local is listed in the

Samba4 stability: Just because I'm curious
Hi people: I know that Samba4 isn't ready for production yet, i understand that is in alpha phase. But I'd like to know what "isn't ready for production" means? What minimal features are stable and what aren't? Does this mean that the basic funcionality could just make Samba4 hang? I would appreciate some comments about the features or reasons that makes Samba4 unstable

A device with two interfaces
I would appreciate advice over that question. I have two devices with both wirelees and ethernet cable interface. A laptop and a media recorder, in a domestic network over a D-Link DSL-G624T router. My first approach was to assign only one static IP to each device: the same for both interfaces. My reason to do that was that they both can't never be active simultaneously and, on the other

Start Windows application from another windows application
Hi all, Being a little (completely) fed-up with windows, I'd like to make a complete switch to Linux, which I already use for about 90%. I still use a specific panorama photo stiching program within WinXP called PTGui. The PTGui program runs fine within Wine. However, PTgui knows/uses two "helper" programs called autopano(.exe) and enblend(.exe). Both are console based executables

Can SAMBA work with 2008 R2 Read Only Domain controller
Hello, ? We are planing to utilize Microsoft 2008 R2 Read Only Domain controller, and deploy RODC's in branches. ? If I would like to have SAMBA servers in those branches, will I be able to add them to the domain (using "net ads join") and work with them, when using the RODC's as domain controllers configured in my smb.conf & krb5.conf? ? I have looked around and did not

Datasets for "The Statistical Sleuth"
Hi everyone, I wonder if there already exists any R packages containing all the data sets for the book "The Statistical Sleuth" (http://www.proaxis.com/~panorama/home.htm; also available at StatLib http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/datasets/sleuth). I'm writing an R package with a friend for one of our stat courses where SAS is the main tool being used. As the time is limited and half of the

AD replication problem "WERR_DS_DRA_ACCESS_DENIED" - need help debugging
We have 3 ADCs based on Samba-4.7.4 (compiled from source, internal DNS)/ CentOS7: dcdo1,dcnh1 and dcge1. dcge1 holds all FSMO roles. The 3 ADCs are on different locations connected via IPSec based VPN. No traffic is filtered out. All 3 ADCs replicate fine except dcdo1 -->dcnh1. Symptom: [root at dcdo1 ~]# samba-tool drs replicate dcnh1.ad.kdu.com dcdo1.ad.kdu.com dc=ad,dc=kdu,dc=com
