Help needed with Windows7 roaming files.
Hi all,
We've been trying to setup/upgrade a samba PDC (version 3.56) with OpenLDAP
as backend and roaming profiles for Windows7 (32bit) Clients. windows7 has
no problem
with login after applying the reg patches, however, it seems to always load
a temporary profile as opposed to roaming one for users, no local profile
is created.
this has caused Outlook 2010 to function improperly

WinXP not creating profile
I have just installed a new samba PDC following
http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu-gutsy-samba-domaincontroller-p2
but my winXP clients don't save their profile. It is created a
directory /home/samba/profiles/USER with permission 700 but no file is
saved there. The computer I amb testing with was in the old samba PDC
saving the profile with no problem, so I suppose is a samba problem.
Any hint

problem with samba PDC and Windows 7 loading roaming profiles
Since years I have a Suse Samba PDC running with Win2000 and WinXP clients.
Now I tried to add 2 Win7 clients and I'm having a problem. Win7 don't
load my
roaming profiles, Win7 always logged in to a domain user using a
temporary profile.
First I upgrades to Samba 3.4.2 (Suse 11.2), than I set the registry

Samba 3.6.0 and Windows7 Client
Hello,
I am currently trying to replace a 2003 AD Server with LDAP backed
Samba3 acting as a PDC.
Two days ago, Windows7 clients (that are on a different subnet) than the
samba server were working well and I thought my understanding advances.
Then, I started to learn how to integrate printers and suddenly I
noticed that the Windows7 clients stopped working -- even with the
working smb.conf that

more roaming profile issues
Gladly and with the help of this list, I have solved my previous problem
with Samba as a PDC. My new and improved problem is with the ntusers.ini
file. Which seems to be overwritten at each and every login. This creates
a problem in that that file lists directories to be excluded and THAT
list includes the Local Settings directory. In someone's infinite
wisdom, they decided to also keep

issues with Windows 7 roaming profiles
Hello,
I have a centOS 5.5 box acting as as a PDC with samba 3.4.9 and openldap 2.4.22.
Then I joined the domain with a centOS box (samba 3.4.17) which hosts the homes and profiles.
I have no problem with XP clients.
I can join a windows 7 client to my domain but it is unable to load the profile when logging in.

Samba/Windows question: problems loading roaming profiles
Hello everyone!
I'm trying (unsuccessfully until now) configure two Samba
servers:
- Server A. Acting as PDC in a Windows 2000/XP
domain and as profile server.
- Server B. Acting as profile server.
I have users whose profiles are in server A and others
whose profiles are in the server B. The server where
each user's profile lives is identified by the main
group (GID) of the user (that

Roaming Profiles under Linux clients
Hi,
As I configured the Roaming profiles under linux, it more or less generate
an abnormal operation (in less than 2 mins) if I add/copy some files to the
home directory. But for Windows XP and Windows 7 is running smoothly and it
generates folders at the Samba4 server location with corresponding users.
e.g. Administrator (for XP), and Administrator.V2 (for Win7/2008) based on
my observations.

question difference of roaming profile between WinXP and Win7
Hello
I want to add Win7 machine to my Samba PDC with WinXP clients. Google tells me I have to add a .V2 to my profiles. The samba log ask about a .v2 share.
Can someone explain me the difference of the v2 extension at the profile names and the roaming profile share?
Following my settings:
smb.conf:
[global]
logon path = \\%L\nt-profile
logon home = \\%L\nt-profile

is supposed to mean. Following is my smb.conf. Please CC me in replies

windows7 <> samba oplock errors
Hello,
we struggeled now for several months but we couldn't manage to get this scenario working:
Client: Windows7
Server: Samba 3.3.8. (RHEL 5.5)
connected to Active Directory via Winbind
Something seems to be wrong with the opLocks: as soon as we try to make any Samba share offline available, it fails.
Client error: process cannot access the file because it is being used by another

Is the term 'home dir' and 'roaming profiles' different?
Hello,
I've just been exploring Samba again after some time, and this time I'm
setting a Samba PDC with LDAP. Thanks for great tutorial from Samba website,
I think I got it working fine :)
However, I've been browsing the list too, and am a bit confused with the
term: 'homedir' and 'roaming profiles'. Is it different? If I'm not mistaken,
homedir is for Win9X

It's a Win7 machine (same as 1st)...all settings are the same and
wireshark shows the problem is the DC is claiming it can't find
the domain name (that it is the DC for!?)... um...

My Windows7 VM stopped at loading screen.
Hello.
I've been tesing VGA passthrough using libvirt.
However, My *Windows7*(64bit) Virtual Machine stopped at loading screen as
soon as I installed graphic driver(*AMD Radeon HD 7750*) and then restarted
the VM.
How Can I use VGA passthrough technology in my *Windows7* VM?
I attached my testing information(HW, system environment and settings, qemu
log and so on..)
Best Regards.
