Pdbedit cannot modify SID
Hi,
I'm trying to migrate from a SME server to an Ubuntu 10.04
Domain names are the same (domain SID already retrieved)
example
User john on SME server has SID

User john on Ubuntu server has SID
S-1-5-21-1222067456-3914006320-3959678504-3010
Not to loose Windows profiles, I'm trying to modify john's SID on Ubuntu

Samba 3.3.15 Ignoring "Logon Path" and "Logon Home" to Disable Roaming Profiles
Hi All,
I have recently successfully configured Samba 3.3.15 and OpenLDAP as my
offices PDC.
I would like to disable the roaming profiles capability but it appears
that no matter what I said, it is being ignored by Samba.
First is my relevant snippet for the Logon Path and Logon Home being
empty as described in the documentation. Then, following that, is my
entire smb.conf -- please let me

How to debug SID problems
Hi,
Is there a tool to debug SIDs on a samba domain. To check that there
is no problems with SIDs on the samba server, windows client or user?
After an upgrade/reinstall of the samba server, I get an error message
on the windows client saying that the profile could not be synced,
when the user logs out.
There are probably a problem with the machine account or the users
SIDs. But I'm new to

maximum password age question
Hello List
I am working on upgrading a older Samba 3.0.16 setup that uses
openldap as its back-end for passwords and users.
I built a clone of our setup using CentOS 5.6 and Openldap 2.4.20 ,
with Samba 3.6.1 .
My issue.
After successfully building and install Samba users can not
authenticate to the server. They are prompted with errors about
Needing to change their password.

samba4wins nbd_server implementation & configuration
Hi,
Confused and bewildered as usual, so ask the guys who know.
samba4wins is now implemented and part of the samba4 package?
Is there a configuration guide?
I guess nbd_server needs to be part of the equation so could you point to some resources on setup as I don't think I have noticed anything in the wiki?
Probably just me :)
Many Thanks

[3.4.7] Right way to provide full access?
Hello
I'd like to configure Samba on a test host running Ubuntu so that I
have full read/write access from XP to a sub-directory of the root
filesystem.
The host is located on a LAN behind a firewall, so security is not an
issue, ie. I'd like to configure Samba with no/minimal security.
Currently, I can read but can't write. Between /etc/passwd, smb.conf,
and access rights to the

converting smbpasswd to passdb.tdb - machine accounts
Hallo,
I'm trying to convert smbpasswd to passdb.tdb.
cd /etc/samba/private

pdbedit -i smbpasswd -e tdbsam:/etc/samba/private/passdb.tdb
converts all human users, but it converts (or transfers) no machine
account.
In "smbpasswd" are many entries beginning with (p.e.)
mac001$
for these accounts,
pdbedit -L -v | grep -i mac

Samba-3.6.1 release IPV6 issue
Dear Sir,
I am trying to use the shared files from Windows 7 using IPV6 address.
But I couldn't able to map or access it through V6 address, though I can
access it through IPV4 address.
I tried almost every thing whatever I did find on the internet
community.
I would be grateful to you if you could help me to make this working.
If possible please provide all the steps including
