Openvpn and samba: play nice together?
Friends-- I'm stumped! Cannot get mount.cifs to work over a tun connection. How would you trouble-shoot this? 1. It cannot be openvpn causing the problem: I can ping across the connection both directions on all machines. 2. It cannot be samba causing the problem: I can mount.cifs the smb shares on the lan (using the identical credentials file) without any issue. 3. Have iptables

Upgrading from V3.0 production system to V3.3
Before I undertake this upgrade I thought I would see if anyone has any advice on how to do this on a production system. Maybe someone has already "fought this dragon". Current config Gluster V3.0.0. This has been in production for over 16 months: 2 servers with 8 x 2TB hard drives (bricks) replicated svr1:vol1 <-> srv2:vol1 -> rbrick1 svr1:vol2 <-> srv2:vol2 ->

Best practices?
Suppose I start building nodes with (say) 24 drives each in them. Would the standard/recommended approach be to make each drive its own filesystem, and export 24 separate bricks, server1:/data1 .. server1:/data24 ? Making a distributed replicated volume between this and another server would then have to list all 48 drives individually. At the other extreme, I could put all 24 drives into some

ACLs on a directory on GPFS
Hello, I am using the vfs_gpfs samba module to map ACLs through samba. It works fine on files, but directory ACLs are ignored. Ex: getfacl /sb/share/myplace/ file: sb/share/myplace/ owner: root group: root user::rwx user:afrankel:rwx group::--- mask::rwx other::--- When I try to access this folder in Windows, I get permission denied. The same permissions on a files, I can open it / modify it

AD and samba secondary group problems
Hi list, I have gone through several mailing list archives, googled, tested several options, but we cannot figure out how we fix our problem. NIS provides the uid and gid in Linux AD provides the passwords storage is provided by GPFS via samba to windows users OS: RedHat 5.5 x86_64 Samba: 3.4.2 and/or 3.5.2 We are able to mount the home directories without any problems, we can

dyn.load(now = FALSE) not actually lazy?
? Wed, 1 Feb 2023 14:16:54 +1100 Michael Milton <ttmigueltt at gmail.com> ?????: > Is this a bug in the `dyn.load` implementation for R? If not, why is > it behaving like this? What should I do about it? On Unix-like systems, dyn.load forwards its arguments to dlopen(). It should be possible to confirm with a debugger that R passes RTLD_NOW to dlopen() when calling dyn.load(now =

can not read file permissions via samba over gpfs
Hi, I am using samba samba3-3.3.4-39, with ctdb ctdb-1.0-69.x86_64, gpfs gpfs-3.2.1 on centos 5.3 x86_64. My problem is that from samba share I can't read file permissions and file ownership, although I'm in "domain admins" group, which has full permissions(rwx) via inherited acl (not user or group ownership). If I'm in a group that owns the file, I can read the permissions,

"No previous versions" - GPFS 3.5 and shadow_copy2
Hi all, At some point recently my customers can no longer see GPFS snapshots under the Windows Previous Versions tab. It simply says "No previous versions available". If a fileset is exported with the flag "force user = root" then Previous Versions *are* displayed. [2016/07/06 10:07:35.602080, 3] ../source3/smbd/vfs.c:1322(check_reduced_name) check_reduced_name:

Excel 'Document not saved' Error when using SMB2 Protocol
Hi Samba Users, I'm in the process of building a Samba4 CTDB /GPFS Cluster joined as a member server to AD that also supports ACL's . It has taken some time but almost everything is working now :) . My one outstanding issue is editing files using Excel 2007 on Windows 7 results in a 'Document not saved' error. I believe this is an issue with the SMB2 protocol as I can edit the same

idmap backend = ad and Active Directory 2008R2
Hello All, I'm trying to set up linux ssh/shell authentication on a CentOS_6.2 server running smbd version 3.5.10-114 using winbind/smb/pam. We've done this successfully using the tdb backend but wanted users to get the same UID/GID on every machine. Switched to rid for the backend but users still got a foreign number for UID and their default group was always Domain Users. So I'm
