[bug] Auth cache, proxy and ITERINDEX
Hi,
today we have exceprienced really major difficulties with our proxy
backend servers. Everything started after enabling auth cache:
auth_cache_size = 100M
auth_cache_verify_password_with_worker = yes
auth_cache_ttl = 1 hour
auth_cache_negative_ttl = 1 hour
Soon after we start receiving lots of calls from our customers about
'missing all e-mail messages'. This was in errors logs on

Winbind uselessly using up Idmap range in ldap
Hi,
We have just managed to get winbind behaving correctly in a Samba domain
with Samba member servers with help from Sernet. It is now not adding
spurious entries for the "own domain".
However, a member server keeps trying to add group mappings that already
exist in the LDAP idmap ou. This would not be a problem, apart from the
fact that every time it fails adding an entry, the

Samba 3.4.7 can't retrieve idmap infor from ldap
I am running Samba 3.4.7on Fedora Core 11 Linux. This is a domain member.
My PDC is Samba 3.4.9 on Solaris 10. I have LDAP as a backend
(Sun/Oracle Directory Server 6.) I have an OU for user accounts, and
an OU for idmap entries. The PDC has already populated some idmap entries.
An idmap entry looks like
dn: sambaSID=S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-1121,ou=mydomain,ou
=idmap,o=mycomany.com

ShoreTel 210 MGCP phone drops calls with MGCP RSIP
I've got a ShoreTel 210 MGCP phone drops calls. My packet
capture indicates that the phone may be trying to renew its registration
with *, but reports Restart Method of Disconnected (frame 2), then *
seems to take that as a sign that it has lost the connection and closes
things down. The phone, meanwhile, seems to think it can continue the
conversation until a few ICMP "port

confusion and problem with Samba v3.3.8 as PDC with ldapsam backend
Hello,
I'm trying to use samba v3.3.8 on Centos 5.5 to act as a PDC, using ldap as
the backend for users, groups, and computers. The ldap I'm using is Centos
Directory Server v8.1.
The setting is a new, never used before, installation of samba and ldap.
There are no users other than what exists by default after a Centos
install. The smb.conf contains what is my best guess for the

Sieve autoreply woes on test setup
Hi,
I have been testing sieve in my setup with qmail-ldap and deliver on a LAN
with an artificial domain name. Everything seems to be working as expected,
except in cases when autoreplies (vacation, reject messages) need to be
tested.
The domain name is vmint, and dawnone is the hostname on which mail server
is setup, so a users have address like cot at vmint, cute at vmint and dove at vmint

PDC (CentOS 5.5, Samba 3.5.6): no domain group names sent to Windows 2003 members
Hello,
After setting up Samba 3.5.6 on CentOS 5.5 (built from sources) I have
noticed a strange problem.
Windows 2003 servers participating in this Samba domain do not receive
domain groups list when I, say, try to assign security credentials for a
file/folder. When I choose domain as source, search reveals only
technical group names and individual domain users names. No domain group
names

domain trusts in samba3 with openLDAP
Greetings Sambistas!
I can't seem to get domain trusts to work in both directions. Details follow.
I have a network running many OSes on four geographically separate
sites with an OpenLDAP authentication backbone. Desktops are windows
XP authenticating to samba 3.0.25b servers which in turn are
configured to use LDAP. Our net has been running samba in various
flavors and versions for

3.6.0 Domain trusts broken
Hi all,
Since the winbind refactoring in Samba 3.6.0, interdomain trusts between
Samba servers seem to be broken in that being able to resolve or modify
file permissions on the other domain work only very intermittently (eg
about once out of 10 tries). This is regardless of whether I use
idmap_rid or idmap_ldap as the backend.
I set up two 3.6.0 domain controllers with an XP client attached

samba 3.5.6, winbindd and getent/id
Hi.
I'm using samba to authenticate squid users in Windows AD, and to
provide 'em some statistics on the Internet usage. As this requires the
existence of windows users in Unix environment, I use nsswitch.conf and
nss_winbind.so to map users in Unix environment via samba as domain
member (security = ads) and its winbindd daemon.
As of samba 3.5.6 I'm expiriencing some major

Home directory weirdness after upgrade from 3.0.33 to 3.5.6
Hi List,
I've just updated from Samba 3.0.33 to 3.5.6 on my Centos 5.5 PDC and am
having problems accessing home directories.
To allow a backout option I set up a new server, put 3.0.33 on it,
joined it to the domain and rsynced the home directories over with the
flags necessary to maintain the permissions and user/group ownership.
This worked and after completion I upgraded the new

A regression in 3.0.25rc3?
Dear Samba team,
I have installed the above release of samba and I am seeing the same
problem as decribed in this old posting when I try to add permissions to
printers:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2006-July/123177.html
Interesting that this was last seen in 3.0.23. 3.0.24 behaves as
expected.
Thanks

samba 3.5.6 as PDC & LDAP - roaming profile problem
Hi all;
for few weeks I'm trying to implement a new samba PDC server for my school.
It is based on debian squeeze and samba 3.5.6 with lDAP backend.
I was able to join a computer into domain, LDAP is working, mapping home
drive for users also.
It seems that almost all works good but with one exeption. The one thing
which is broken is roaming profile support.
When user is logging into domain

Simple client config
Hello,
I would like to know what is really necessary to setup a Samba as a
simple client of a PDC Server, because, the way I'm trying, things are
not working.
I have Samba + LDAP on a server as PDC, and I want to setup
transparent proxy authentication through Squid and Samba + Winbind on
another server, but I can't make this Samba to authenticate against
the PDC.
I have been trying with

Issue providing seamless migrtion (3.0.24 to 3.5.6) - sambaNTPassword mystery
Hello everyone,
I am operating a migration of samba from 3.0.24 (mysql passdb backend)
to 3.5.6 (openldap passdb), samba working as a domain controller (PDC)
and file share. The main challenge is to provide a seamless migration
for users.
For this new version, I am using smbldap-tools 0.9.6, nss_ldap, openldap
2.4. Everything run on FreeBSD 8.2.
To get used to samba, I have managed to make

Unable to compile Samba 3.5.6 on Solaris 9 - more winbind issues
Greetings,
No helpful hints have been offered to my winbind issues with Samba 3.4.9
and Solaris 9 I started trying to build Samba 3.5.6. Using gcc 3.4.6.
I added "-lintl" to the LIBS option in the Makefile which cleared some
earlier linker errors involving libintl_gettext, libintl_textdomain and
libintl_bindtextdomain being undefined, except with winbind:

Samba 3.6.5, idmap configuration and WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND
Hello all,
I recently upgraded from Samba 3.5.6 (the version contained in Debian Stable) to Samba 3.6.5 (the version from Debian Backports) in an effort to closer track the current development to try and chase some long standing bugs out.
I think I've resolved one problem but introduced another. I'm getting the "WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND" when I try to perform a SID to UID
