Samba trusts, mapping issue, and pam crap domain
I am running Samba ver 3.0.37 on Solaris 10 (sparc) as a PDC with LDAP for the backend for both samba and unix accounts. Assume the samba SMBPDC is called "PDC." I have also set up a trust with an Windows domain- lets call it WINDOMAIN- (the PDC for the Windows domain is Win 2003 but is in mixed mode for backwards compat.) The SAMBA domain trusts the WINDOWS domain, not not vice

net use z: \\sambapdc\share1 <file:///\\sambapdc\share1> However I still get prompted for a user name and password. I don't seem to have a way to force the "net" command to connect anonymously. If I can force an anonymous connection from Windows, then I should be OK. (Again, this share does not contain information that needs much protection.) Thanks

Is Samba PDC + NT4 DOM Trust using NTLMv2 possible?
My Question: ------------ Is it possible to get 2-way Interdomain Trust relationships working between a Samba domain and an NT4 SP6a domain, while restricting all password hashes to NTLMv2 only? Everything works except the inter-domain trust I'm able to get the NT4 domain to trust the Samba domain, but not the other way around. My System: ---------- I have a perfectly running Samba domain

Samba 3.6 problems with idmap rid
Hi! I am using mainly Samba 3.5 on CentOS, and I was very pleased with idmap_rid backend for SID-to-RID mappings. But on Solaris 10, I can only use 3.6 because OpenCSW ships only 3.6. Problem is, things are changed and are not working as expected... Here is my config on RHEL Samba 3.5: [global] workgroup = WINDOMAIN realm = WINDOMAIN.LOCAL server string = localserver

Samba-3 / ADS problems with trusted domain
Hello, I'm running Mandrake 9.2 and Samba-3.0.2a I'm connecting a Samba Server as a Domain member to an 2003 ADS, called TEST2. I've been able to create the computer account. I've also tested successfully, from Chapter 7 of ' Samba HOWTO Collection' with a W2K client logon/mount a share from the samba server using Kerberos. The testing of the smbclient was also

I am unable to authenticate any user despite the following commands working: %> getent passwd <username> %> wbinfo -u %> wbinfo -g With the getent passwd I am able to see all of my UID/GID being mapped via winbdind to the rid of the domain user account. This command fails: %>

Authentication and trusted domains
Hi there, This is most likely something very basic which I'm not seeing right now. I have a Samba-server, which is running in security = domain, and it's a member of that domain (DOMAINA). The domain is a Win2003 domain. That domain has established a trust with another domain (DOMAINB). There's a Windows terminal server TERMSRV which is a member of DOMAINA, but a user from DOMAINB

Trusted domains with Samba 3.0alpha21?
Hi there! I appear to be having problems with trusted domains using 3.0a21. Using Samba as a member server, as user "nirs" on domain "Exanet-il" I am unable to log on to a member server ("snow") who is a member of the "Exanet-qa" domain. The "exanet-qa" is supposed to trust "exanet-il", and it all worked with 2.2 . This is the relevant

Mapping all members of an AD group to a single unix username?
Hello all I've tried various permutations in the smbusers file ( referenced by username map ), to get all members of a Windows AD group to be able to authenticate to a Samba Share, mainly along the lines of DOMAIN\GroupName, but I can't figure out a way to get this to work. What I need is for any member of the DOMAIN\SambaGroup to authenticate to the Samba server as the unix user

SRC=/, include a few directories and exclude everything else
Hi, I am currently backing up a few Linux boxes, and a Windows XP box, using rsync (through a cron job). Regarding the Windows box ( Windows XP (running Cygwin) <--> Debian Testing), so far I specify a few directories as sources in the rsync command line. I then use an excludes file to include certain directories and exclude others. I was wondering, can I just specify / as the source and

Cannot access samba users from Windows Server 2008 r2 trust
Hi, our setup is Samba 3.3.12 as the Trusted Domain (Domain name: SAMBA) Windows 2008r2 as the Trusting Domain (Domain name: W2008) The trust itself works quite well, users of the SAMBA Domain are able to log into the workstations of the W2008 domain and even roaming profiles are working. However, when I try to configure permissions on a share of the W2008r2 server to users from the SAMBA
