CSC-policy and offline files
I have not been able to find anything similar to this in the archives... So, can anyone help me out with the csc-policy? What version of SAMBA was this introduced in? I am currently running 2.2.3 and am finding that some of my XP users as well as one W2K user are running out of disk space on their machines - their client side caches are filling up. The folders that they are syncing to on the

Thunderbird, CSC and files/folder...
[ I don't think it is a samba trouble, but indeed some clue... ] A user of mine have a rather complex Thunderbird local folder email archive, in a network folder (P:\Mail), with CSC enabled (it is a portable system). Rather frequently (at least once a week) in the share a 'disk folder' (a directory) with the same name of the 'file' of the email folder get created. Because

And now for something completely different. Win7 on KVM
As you can probably guess by now I am working my way down through my outstanding issue list trying to get as many deferred items closed out as I can before the next security storm hits. We have a Win7pro KVM guest that has been giving us networking issues since it was created. The last problem was that it was picking up its network address from the virtio DHCP service, with predicable results.

csc policy
Hello you all, we are in the process of upgrading to windows 10 on all our workstations. We see one problem with redirected folders. We redirect Appdata to a network share. [profdata] comment = Profile Data Share path = /srv/profdata csc policy = disable hide files = /?esktop.ini/ntuser.ini/NTUSER.*/?humbs.db/$RECYCLE.BIN/ This worked great (although slow) with

Offline File Syncing
Hello, I'm using samba 2.2.4 as a fileserver in a Win2K domain with AD functionality. Our users are using offline-folders for syncing with samba, when offline or not at office. But recently many of them report failures during the syncing process with a growing number of files. After studying the logfiles, I was able to find out, that failing chmod attempts from the clients are the reason. As

offline folders problem with W2k SP2
Hi, had samba 2.1.?? version and Win2k running for some time and offline folders worked just fine. But recently I installed SP2 on Win2k and did a samba upgrade to 2.2.3 and now the offline folders do not work any more. Everything is fine until I go offline, */CSC/ contains my offline files and everything seems fine, but when being offline I always get access denied messages when accessing

Offline Caching
Hi All, I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find anything recent. Using Samba4 and windows clients, the client logs include lots off 'windows has detected that offline caching is enabled on the roaming profile share.......' messages. Is this an issue and if so, how do I sort it? I've found references to 'csc policy = disable' but this is not recognised

Initializing SparseM matrix matrix.csc
Hi! Would like to initialize a huge matrix.csc (Pacakge SparseM) with all elements 0 and afterwards set a few alements nonzero. The matrix which I like to allocate is so huge that I can not use A <- matrix(a,n1,p) before: A.csr <- as.matrix.csc(A) because I can not allocate such a huge matrix A. But I believe that the much more memmory efficient model in case of csc matrix should do it for

Csc Policy
Hi, We are using Red Hat Linux 8.0 - and Samba 2.2.5 We are using csc_policy (Client side caching) to synchronise files between Windows 2000 Professional and Linux. The parameter we have in smb.conf is = csc policy = documents - it is having reliability problems, are there any other parameters which might enhance csc policy performance. Please help, Im pulling my hair out Cheers Thomas

Thunderbird, CSC and files/folder...
Hi, In my experience Thunderbird does not work on a directory that has CSC/offline files in use without major problems. We use shares that have no offline caching in use for Thunderbird profiles, and those work only when the user is online. Whent that is not an option: put your profile on %localappdata% with no synchronization at all. As long as you access mail only via imap (no pop3) and you

Set/verify you profile share again, but setup windows ACL's. not POSIX acls. See: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles Goto : Setup : Using Windows ACLs And dont look below this line on the
