Samba 4, CUPS, and one slow printer
I'm running CentOS 6.5, cups-1.4.2-50, and sernet-samba-4.1.4-7. I have five Ricoh copiers configured as printers using RAW queues in CUPS. Samba is configured as an Active Directory domain controller. I followed the "Samba as a print server" guide in the wiki. The [global] section contains load printers = yes. The [printers] section contains the following: path =

Need help getting colour printing features restricted to a specific group
I?ve got a Ricoh multi-function printer/copier that I need to restrict the colour printing functions to only members of the @ColorPrinting group. I?ve two print queues for the Ricoh, one colour, one not. Unfortunately, even users on the B&W queue can change the colour settings on the print dialog in Windows and bypass the restriction and prints in colour. Part of this likely is our CUPS

Our server is displaying files that shouldn't be shown such as .DS_Store ._DS_Store among others. Our smb4.conf file contains the following line: hide files = /_*/:*/.*/.AppleDB/.AppleDouble/.bin/.AppleDesktop/Temporary Items/ thus these files shouldn't be shown. Bungled update
I was running 3.0 on a freebsd-7.2 box as a PDC, I needed to add some windows 7 computers to the mix. So I jumped from 3.0 to samba34-3.4.5_1. I was able to get the windows 7 into the mix. But in the jump I lost some features on the other computers. I have a mix of Windows 2000 pro, Windows XP pro and Windows 7 pro and the one PDC. The windows computers are unable to share printers. Not able to

Hello I will appreciate your help with the following. Running a script in R 2.14.1 under windows vista I get the following error message: Error in ifelse(append, "a", "w") : (list) object cannot be coerced to type 'logical' However, the very same script runs perfectly well under Ubuntu. My understanding is that this type of error is associated to

procrustes (vegan) plot of residual differences
Hello This is a simple question but I couldn't google an answer. In the procrustes function of the vegan package, one uses plot(procrustes_object, kind=2) to obtain a plot of the residual differences. For instance: data(varespec) vare.dist <- vegdist(wisconsin(varespec)) library(MASS) mds.null <- isoMDS(vare.dist, tol=1e-7) mds.alt <- isoMDS(vare.dist,

Print Jobs stuck in queue
Hi, I have a RedHat7.3 distro running Samba-2.2.3a. I've never had this problem before 2.2.x versions of samba. I'm using domain security and sharing 2 printers, an HP4050 and Ricoh. Everyone can print fine except that, seemingly randomly, printjobs end up in the queue as paused (according to winXPpro and Win98). Nobody can unpause or delete them. The only way to remove them is to

Clients send tons of Notiftication requests
I am still fighting with this issue. I did the following: I connected to the NAS with a read-only account called kodi. I traversed various folders and I finally opened an image. Everything went fine. Looking at the logs, the get_entry mask file only shows the final folder: smbd_dirptr_get_entry mask=[Anhelina Viber] found Users/luca/Pictures/Canon/Alessandro/Amici/Anhelina Viber fname=Anhelina

FW: authenticating using winbindd against NT4 domain fail s (URGENT)
Hi folks, Can anyone shed light on this issue? I haven't heard from you guys. Is there anything else I could do to expedite resolution of this issue? I've read the WHATSNEW.txt and reviewed the release notes. I am not sure if I've fully grasped what needs to be done. Can someone point me in the right direction? ~Doug -----Original Message----- From: Doug Sampson

Error when trying to print with point and print installed drivers
I have an Ubuntu Sever 9.10 setup running Samba as a PDC for a bunch of Windows clients. Everything is functioning perfectly except for the point and print delivery of printer drivers. I have tested this with Ubuntu 9.10's Samba (3.4.0) and two of the Debian Samba packages (3.4.3 and 3.4.5). All seem to demonstrate the same problem. *What works:* Adding a printer and manually installing the

Migration from 3.0.23d to 3.4.5 failed
Hi, I have a problem migrating Samba, users can't be authenticated. It always says "user unknown or incorrect password". I have low skills on Samba so I followed the official HOW-TO install step-by-step, but now I'm stucked. Everything works well on the (old) 3.0.23d Samba server. I can't add a machine to the workgroup using the admin account (administrator). I

cups printer oddity
Dear list, in CUPS, I have to absolutely identical printers configured (I believe), except for the printer name and the hostname it connects to. I use cupsaddsmb on them (same PPD). When I try to connect to the printer prn-1101-001-d110-1, it works; for prn-1101-001-d111-1, it does not. I have narrowed this down to the following difference in the output of rpcclient -c enumprinters:

osx 10.6 strange rsync errors
Hi All, I have been getting reports from users of backuplist+, my wrapper application for rsync (currently with build of 3.0.6), about odd behavior after updating to OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. Basically: the problem occurs backing up a directory to a local mounted network volume. Previously all worked fine but after updating to 10.6 there are reports that no files get copied and the destination fills

Bug#614101: Debian 6.0 amd64 doesn't boot with Xen on Toshiba u300-13u
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 Version: 4.0.1-2 Either Xen, or the Dom0 kernel (I guess you know better) spits out error messages about ata4 containing "status: { DRDY ERR }" (similar error can be found googling DRDY ERR). I'm not putting the whole error message here because I couldn't copy-paste the message at the booting stage. I'm adding the autoconfigured menu
