samba migration to another llinux distro
Hello
I need a description how to move painlessly samba from one system to
another without re-adding to the domain windows clients. Currently, I
have samba Version 3.0.28a-1.fc7
on Fedora 7 and I want to move it on CentOS 5.5 As far as the server
hardware remains the same. In addition to changing the system i would
like to change new disks and add a new 3ware 9650SE Raid controller

permission problem with vfs object recycle:directory_mode
Well,
Despite I've recently answered about vfs object recycle on this list,
it seems that it isn't working as excepted.
Using Samba 4.4.5, compiled from sources
Here is the conf for a share:
[musique]
path = /media/data/musique
read only = No
vfs objects = acl_xattr recycle
recycle:directory_mode = 0770
recycle:subdir_mode = 0700

I am struggling to solve this problem.
My file server Samba 4.4.5.
Even the administrator user (domain admin) could not write to the share.
Could someone give me a hint, in order to solve this problem?

Enable Recycling
So I've added the following information to my smb.conf in the general
section based off various information on the internet, but primarily from here:
http://timtrott.co.uk/enabling-recycle-bin-functionality-samba/
Nonetheless when I delete files from any shares they are not sent to
Recycling. What am I missing?

Sure, but did you even try my advice.. ??
So again.. from smb.conf

wide links (S)
follow symlinks (S)
G = Global
S = Share
So here you are lazy ... ( fill the dots..) ;-)

Excel and Samba Problem
Hello,
We have a problem with our Samba server (we tested with two versions 3.6.6 and 4.1.11).
When a User edit an Excel file and saves, another user can not save this edited later.
The temporary file named like 885E9010 will be created and Excel reports that this file can not be accessed.
I have test it with Windows and Mac. Both have the same Problem.
This is our samba configuration:
