networking problem/Domain not available
I've got a client - a cheap client - and they want to add a new file server (samba sharing) to their network. They have one samba server already acting as the domain controller (PDC) and file server (and DHCP server). The wiring is a nightmare, and everything is daisy chained through 3 different non- programmable switches. They have no more open ports on any of the switches. Further, the

Problem with DHCP and default route in CentOS
I have a CentOS 6.4 VM that is getting its DHCP information from dnsmasq (a libvirt instance). However, it is not applying the routing information. Attached is a tcpdump of the dhcpc output. You'll see: Default-Gateway Option 3, length 4: 192.168.122.1 However, when I run 'route -n', I get: # route -n Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask

Hi Joshua, Not a fix for your issue, but Ben noticed this (and fixed it): https://github.com/skeggsb/nouveau/commit/024bda7d2b0c3b0731433d60a494c78ab58cb216 which is what causes us to even try 540MB/s link training. However with this fix applied, it'll just give up faster. I'm told eDP is generally a single lane, and you're trying to get more than 270MB/s. So ... the question is ...

initial SW config, failing the "shorewall check"
I''m following the document; <http://flurdy.com/docs/postfix/>, and SSH only By default Shorewall in Ubuntu has an empty set up. You can find the default values for Shorewall in /usr/share/doc/shorwall-common/default-config. And examples in /usr/share/doc/shorwall-common/examples. We will create a basic set up. First configure which network adapters we are accessing the net. cp

3rd party repositories
Can anyone comment on the use of 3rd party repos for newer versions of software like php, python and mysql? Two I am aware of are puias and ius. Is one preferable to the other? Can their packages be installed in parallel to and without interfering with base packages?

Qanah being put on the back burner - for now
All - I owe a few people an apology. I jumped in to trying to start up a project at a time when my schedule just wouldn''t handle the load. I did not accurately estimate my time commitments for the coming months when I made the announcement of Qanah this past March. So, for now, Qanah is being put on the back burner. Note I didn''t say abandoned: just postponed. If you

file server: %U or %u?
Hi all, Here there are trust relationship between domains. On some file server using Samba 4.4.4 (Centos 7) I must set up my shares using %U. When using %u the directory which is accessed is /path/to/share/OUR_DOMAIN\username rather than /path/to/share/username. Initially I thought it could be solved by using: winbind use default domain = yes associated with: workgroup = OUR_DOMAIN but that

Mounting home directory from Windows in Linux
Hi All, I'm using samba 3.0.10-1 on RedHat Enterprise Linux 4. I'm authentication to our PDC using Winbind and also mounting our home directory share (from Windows) onto our main Linux server such that when a user logs on to the Linux server, their Windows home directory is mounted also. I'm using the domain admin account to mount the home directory share, which I feel is

Winbind cannot find/connect to PDC.
Hi all. Funny thing happend: I had winbindd working, but now I can't get it back up correctly. I'm not sure what I'm doing differently. Samba version 2.2.5. 'wbinfo -u' says "Error looking up domain users". I joined the domain with the command: 'smbpasswd -j OUR_DOMAIN -r thepdc -U Administrator' and this returned saying "Joined domain

Delete or repair corrupt records in zone data?
Hello all, I inherited a Samba4 domain controller also acting as DNS and unfortunately this is all new to me. Asking the DNS for the content of a certain zone with # samba-tool dns query ip_of_domain_controller name_of_zone @ ALL -U administrator brings up two entries that look different. A good and working entry looks like this: Name=1, Records=1, Children=0 PTR: pcname.our_domain.local

Retain parts of a matrix
Hi all, I'm working to apply a function that will generate a matrix of results only when a specific criteria is met. I want my final results to be a matrix with both the values that meet the criteria (the results of the function), and those that to do in the same positions in the matrix (the original numbers). Here's a sample of what I would like to do: t.mean.1.c <- c(-15, -20,

Host selection in ssh_config
Hello there, I'm a little afraid of writing here, hope I don't make any mistake doing so. I'm trying for days and searching the web too, but no obvious solution, no reply from the specialized forum I wrote in. Here is the situation: I would like to have a lighter security inside our domain, without changing when going outside. By "lighter security" I mean at least, no

How to loop on file names
Dear all, I need to do the same procedure on several files. But I don't know how to refer to the file name. Here is an example of what I am trying to do. List of files: file1(A,B,C, D1...Dn), file2(A,B,C,E1,...,En), file3(A,B,C,F1,...,Fn) Procedure I want to apply on each file: dft <- melt(df,id=c('A','B','C')) dft$X <- substr(dft$variable,1,3) dft$Y <-

data.frame into list by columns; merge and row.names
Hi a) I want to make a list out of a data.frame, where each element of the list is a column of the data.frame. I looked in the archives and saw a lot of postings but surprsingly none elucidated me. I also tried the split, aggregate help files and counldn't see any easy way to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if it's there, but I really didn't see it. I solved the problem
