Weird breakage with Roaming Profiles and Quotas
Been playing around with Samba as a domain controller a lot lately, with a rather nice setup. Latest samba and openldap backend, running on hardware SATA raid 5, with for the moment the only shares on XFS /home partition ontop of LVM running XFS quotas. It's all nice and spangley, expect for one thing.. It completely breaks when saving the roaming profile at logoff, and the quota is reached.

fail to display xfs quotas instead of smbcquotas on Win clients
Hi Samba 3.6.3 on Ubuntu. Filesystem is xfs, grpquota and usrquota are enabled. root at host:# repquota /mntpoint displays the correct data (see below). In smb.conf I defined max protocol = SMB2. When running smbcquotas //host/share -L I'm getting displayed a value of 16GB for every user share. This is the value that is displayed on the windows 7 boxes when looking at the network shares in

smbcquotas tells me that "quotas are not enabled"
I have a setup of Ubuntu 8.04 running Samba 3.0.28a. Connected to our network I have a buffalo linkstation acting as Network Attached Storage (NAS), which I have successfully mounted on the local file system. Using smbcquotas I believe I can set up a quota for each user on the NAS. To get started, I run the command: smbcquotas //192.168.1.4/share -S FSQFLAGS:QUOTA_ENABLED -A

roaming profiles and quota limits
I have a Samba server where I established disk quotas for each user. When I check the free space from Windows its shows correctly the used space, but not the total space: I have set 100 MB soft limit, 200 MB hard limit and one user has used 150 MB, and it shows "150 MB used / 0 bytes free". When the user logs off, Windows complains that it can't store the roaming profile due to

Win XP/7 with roaming profiles
Before last week, we have been running Samba 3.0.28 on Ubuntu Hardy as a PDC for Windows XP Pro machines using roaming profiles. This has worked for years with no issues. We migrated to a server running Ubuntu Lucid and Samba 3.4.7 so that we could start adding Windows 7 Pro machines to the domain. We first moved servers/samba versions and worked out a few kinks with the XP machines.

Since samba was installed with redhat provided rpms, --with-quotas WAS configured in. The samba share is seen and can be used by authenticated users. However quotas are not being recognized. The same disk space, if accessed via Windows shares are

Samba + Share Quota's
Hi Samba users. I have the following problem and I hope somebody can help me: I installed Samba on a White Box linux machine and used LDAP for authentication. I created a directory /work/shares. In /work/shares are all share directories created. The problem I'm having now is that the total capacity of each share is the same because they are on the same partition. (So /work/shares/test

Quota on Share
Hi all, I've been banging my head against smbcquota with no results, other than a major headache, and i've not been able to find any info ( maybe looking in the wrong places). Issuing "smbcquotas -vv -d 2 //masterdc/admin -F -U Administrator" returns: File System QUOTAS: Limits: Default Soft Limit: NO LIMIT Default Hard Limit: NO LIMIT Quota Flags: Quotas

Roaming profiles not supporting quota
Dear Group, I'm using samba 3.x as a PDC, and I'm using linux system quota v2 for samba. Here is my problem: if a user copies a big file to the desktop (bigger than the quota set for that user), when he logs off, the profile wont syncronize with the server with the message "disk full". Is there a way to let the WinXp client to understand how much space is available also for

Roaming profiles - exclude Application Data from roaming profile
Hello All, I have a problem with my roaming profiles where they are becoming too large due to the Thunderbird mail accounts (stored by default) in Application Data. What I would like to do is exclude this directory from being part of the roaming profile. How can I do this? Also, how hard is it to have some users not use a roaming profile but others continuing to use a roaming profile? We

Roaming Profiles: Advantages and disadvantages?
Hello everyone. I wanted to get some feedback and opinions from people regarding the use of Roaming profiles. originally, I was planning on using roaming profiles. However, I am starting to wonder if this is such a good idea. The reason is that, if I implement roaming profiles, there is a good chance that there will be network congestion as well as a lot of stress on the server. (50 users so

migrating local user profiles to roaming domain profiles
I have a network of 2K and XP clients that I am migrating to a domain using Samba 3 as a PDC. I have the domain working quite well after quite a bit of tweaking. My problem is that I want people to logon to the domain, but I also want them to keep their profiles from their local users. How can I go about this? -- Andrew Gaffney

disabling roaming profiles for some networks only
Hey everyone. We have two offices accessing the same Samba server, which is a PDC and file server. The server is located in one of the offices, but the other office is only connected by a relatively slow link (1.5 megabit/s). I'm looking for a way to turn off roaming profiles only for those users which are at the remote site. (It's a tad inconvenient when it takes an hour or two to

Roaming profiles won't roam via how-to
Hey folks, I've been testing Samba 4 with some Windows 7 virtual machines and the Active Directory how-to instructions here: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO. As far as I can tell, the instructions work exactly as described, except when it comes to roaming profiles. When I attempt to use those, the user can log in but gets a message warning that Windows could not load their
