3.0.23 - different errors on solaris 8 (Error in dskattr...)
Hi,
I just compiled samba 3.0.23 on our Sun Solaris 8 server. 3.0.22 was
running fine and I used the same compiler options for 3.0.23.
$ ./configure --with-acl-support --prefix=/usr/local/samba3023
--with-quotas --with-included-popt --without-ldap --with-vfs
gcc version 3.4.2
GNU Make 3.80
Running make now throws a lot these warnings:

home share issue: //server/homes errs, while //server/<username> works
Hello list,
I'm running a samba server in AD domain, with some AD users explicitly
mapped into local users by "username map = sambauser.map", which is a text
file.
Problem is found with explicitly mapped user, I can only access home share
by //server/<ADusername>, not //server/homes (using windows explorer). This
feels wrong because I also tried those AD users not listed in

[CTDB] how does LMASTER know where the record is stored?
Greetings list,
I was looking at the wiki "samba and clustering" and a ctdb.pdf, admittedly
both are quite old (2006 or 2007) and I don't know how things change over
years, but I just have two questions about LMASTER:
< this is from pdf >
LMASTER fixed
? LMASTER is based on record key only
? LMASTER knows where the record is stored
? new records are stored on LMASTER

Understanding NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
[For those on both this and samba-technical - sorry for the duplication.
I meant to send this here, but I experienced a user error. :-) ]
I'm having a problem related to the NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
error and I am having a little difficulty discovering what this means.

Is it my networking?
I've used samba for the better part of 4 years now.
Never had any real problems that were not easily
resolved. Samba has become the single most important
piece of software in our lab. It has reduced my
administrative headaches considerably.
However, now I have a real problem that I have no clue
on. I'm running a Samba 2.2.8a PDC on Sun Solaris. About
2 months ago, we moved our lab from

Error when upgrading to samba 3.0.25b: NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
Hi,
I just upgraded from:
samba-3.0.23d-1
to:
samba-3.0.25b-3
After starting samba, I could no longer connect to any share, I get this
error:
NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
I builded both samba rpm using the packaging/RHEL/makerpms.sh script
on Centos 4.5
Is there any big change in 3.0.25? I readed all releases notes and
didn't found
any cause for this error.
Thanks
Oliver

Time out failure with mvfs on Linux
I have tried Samba 3.0.2a and 3.0.4. We use Active directory. The server
is running on RHEL3.
When I connect to the server on a share that is acutally an ext3 or NFS
file system, I have no known problems. We use ClearCase on Linux and I
am trying to access my workspace (view) as I have done many times before
on Solaris, but now we are running on Linux and with a newer version of
ClearCase

multiple permissioning for same user in username.map
Afternoon All....
I'm new to the list today, so be gentle with me ;-)
I have a problem where I host a samba box for the purposes of shunting
data about between different platforms, mostly Solaris (but with a little
HP-UX, AIX & Linux thrown in for good measure) to NT / 2K .
I also have a number of NT / AD service accounts that need to connect

Strange segfaulting bug in Samba, has something to do with logleve.
Hey.
I seem to have the strangest problem with samba.
I have been running samba on a total of four machine, without a problem.
Now with a new machine, it won't work.
UNLESS I set loglevel to 10 in smb.conf, now thats weird.
If I remove the loglevel parameter from the smb.conf (so it reverts to
default, what.. 5 ?) it crashes after just a minute or so of use.

File case sensitivity
Hi;
I've run into a somewhat interesting issue in regards to IIS serving
content from a samba share. Occasionly, IIS will return 404 errors for
content that does infact exist.

strange: failing upload of special profile-dirs
Hi to everyone,
Something quite strange occured to me this weekend as we wanted
to switch our network to w2k ads structure with a sambaserver as
main fileserver running winbind.
The windowsprofiles are supposed to reside on the sambaserver and
the client successfully loads the initial profile.
The first time the user logs on to his machine, he gets some
default .msi-softwarepackages assigned by

Writing operations to a Samba share fail
Hi,
I have a problem with Samba occasionally starting to fail with any write
operations to a public share. When Samba is started clean, everything
works OK. Then at some stage some users start to experience errors
trying to write into a share. At the same time other users may not
perceive any problems.
smb.conf or any other configurations of the server hasn't been changed

Possible bug in samba-2.2.8a-1...
Hi,
I found what seems to be a bug in smbd (and smbclient?) from samba-2.2.8a-1.
Scenario is the following:
All users have accounts in linux box "mate", with homes mounted via NFS
from linux box "fserver". mate and fserver run samba-2.2.8a-1, mate ONLY
validates passwords and has no shares; fserver in turn, ONLY shares [homes]
and [netlogon], but has no users, so samba uses

rsync 3.2.7 hangs when --usermap is used and receiver is not a super-user
After upgrading to rsync 3.2.7, the following command hangs forever
(using "--usermap" causes the hang; without "--usermap" it doesn't
hang):
rsync -v -p -e --usermap user:user /etc/services user at remote:
It did not hang with rsync 3.2.3.
Not sure if it's intended behaviour? The fine manual says that --usermap
should be used as a super-user on the receiver, but
