Solaris 9 winbind/getent group issues
Hello everyone, I've got samba 3.0.10 compiled --with-pam and --with-winbind , have put libnss_winbind.so into /usr/lib and created the appropriate links, and have edited /etc/nsswitch.conf to have group and password point to files then winbind. I joined my domain successfully. I'm running on a Solaris 9 system with the 9_Recommended patch cluster installed. Relevant smb.conf lines:

chown/chgrp for winbind users doesn`t work
Hello, I have two Samba Domains and each trust each other (PDCs run 3.0.22). Also I have a samba member server (3.0.24) that runs winbind. When I use wbinfo I can see the user and groups of both domains. I also can chown/chgrp files with users of the domain the server is member of. But I can`t chown/chgrp with accounts of the trusted domain. chown doesn`t work at all. chgrp works, but then only

libguestfs mounting solaris 10 ZFS guest
Not sure if this possible, but I have a KVM guest running Solaris 10 with the OS on ZFS and I am trying to use libguestfs/guestfish/guestmount to get to the VM. I am running Red Hat EL 5.4 with EPEL rpms as required. The VM is on a LV and it boots fine, but I can't seem to get the syntax correct to get libguestfs to deal with it. Guestmount seemed like the best option because it supports FUSE

ZFS filesystems not mounted on reboot with Solaris 10 10/09
I have a system that was recently upgraded to Solaris 10 10/09. It has a UFS root on local disk and a separate zpool on Iscsi disk. After a reboot, the ZFS filesystems were not mounted, although the zpool had been imported. `zfs mount'' showed nothing. `zfs mount -a'' mounted them nicely. The `canmount'' property is `on''. Why would they not be mounted at boot?

is putting zone paths on zfs supported in Solaris 10 u5/u6 ?? Documentation on that? - 66124245
ZFS experts! cu is looking for _documentation_ about putting zone paths on zfs. cu is running 5.10 KP 137111-06. he needs to make sure u5 kp is ok with zone roots. Also has FSs mounted via legacy. So...anybody have documentation on which u5 or u6 of Solaris (NOT OpenSolaris) supports zfs, if any update, for zone paths? -Brian -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: Sun#

Live Upgrade Solaris 10 UFS to ZFS boot pre-requisites?
I have a Solaris 10 U5 system massively patched so that it supports ZFS pool version 15 (similar to U8, kernel Generic_141445-09), live upgrade components have been updated to Solaris 10 U8 versions from the DVD, and GRUB has been updated to support redundant menus across the UFS boot environments. I have studied the Solaris 10 Live Upgrade manual (821-0438) and am unable to find any

rsync 3.x ACL / XATTR support for Solaris 10 / ZFS
Looking at the current code in CVS, it appears that rsync does not currently support ACLs or XATTRs for Solaris ZFS filesystems (at least not completely - I'm not sure how UFS/ZFS auto ACL format conversion works). It shouldn't be too hard to add support, especially as ZFS now uses NFSv4 ACLs. I'm glad to do the coding and testing, but I wanted to make sure that someone wasn't

reproducible zfs panic on Solaris 10 06/06
Hi, I am able to reproduce the following panic on a number of Solaris 10 06/06 boxes (Sun Blade 150, V210 and T2000). The script to do this is: #!/bin/sh -x uname -a mkfile 100m /data zpool create tank /data zpool status cd /tank ls -al cp /etc/services . ls -al cd / rm /data zpool status # uncomment the following lines if you want to see the system think # it can still read and write to the

Newbie question: ZFS on Xserve RAID with Solaris 10
--Apologies if you get two copies of this message - it was submitted for moderation and hasn''t appeared on the list in two days, so I''m resubmitting. Hi all, Just a quick question. Is it possible to utilise an Apple Xserve RAID as an array for use with ZFS with RAID-Z in Solaris? I''ve seen various mentions of ''zfs'' and ''xserve

solaris 10 -zfs - smb.conf
I'm desperately looking for an example of a working smb.conf file for solaris 10 using zfs ? I've been trying so many possible combinations of the available options, but I can not get it working properly. I want to mimic simple NT acls, including inheritance, and the possibility to add AD groups. I often get stuck on deny aces being generated as the first aces in the acl. Environment :

ZFS Filesystem Quota under Solaris 10 and Sparc
Hallo. Filesystem quotas used to work well under Solaris 9 and ufs filesystems on the Sparc platform even with two rules for the folders in the users home directories /home/group/user and the separate filesystem /var/mail holding the inboxes: plugin { quota = fs:Home-Verzeichnis:noenforcing quota2 = fs:INBOX:noenforcing:mount=/var/mail } Since we upgraded last year to Solaris 10

"zfs send" from solaris 10/08 to "zfs receive" on solaris 10/09
I built a fileserver on solaris 10u6 (10/08) intending to back it up to another server via zfs send | ssh othermachine ''zfs receive'' However, the new server is too new for 10u6 (10/08) and requires a later version of solaris . presently available is 10u8 (10/09) Is it crazy for me to try the send/receive with these two different versions of OSes? Is it possible the

Solaris 10, zfs and windows
This seems to work. The Samba (3.0.37) server is running Solaris 10 8/07 with the share on zfs and joined to a windows 2003 active directory domain. Files created in Solaris can be edited from windows without the permission being changed. Files created from windows have the correct Solaris permissions, owner and group and can be edited without permissions being changed. We use the chmod command to

Expanding a ZFS pool disk in Solaris 10 on VMWare (or other expandable storage technology)
Hello all, This is not so much a question but rather a "how-to" for posterity. Comments and possible fixes are welcome, though. I''m toying (for work) with a Solaris 10 VM, and it has a dedicated virtual HDD for data and zones. The template VM had a 20Gb disk, but a particular application needs more. I hoped ZFS autoexpand would do the trick transparently, but it turned out

Solaris 10 / ZFS file system major/minor number
Hi, In migrating from **VM to ZFS am I going to have an issue with Major/Minor numbers with NFS mounts? Take the following scenario. 1. NFS clients are connected to an active NFS server that has SAN shared storage between the active and standby nodes in a cluster. 2. The NFS clients are using the major/minor numbers on the active node in the cluster to communicate to the NFS active server. 3.

zfs/acl problem samba 3.0.25a on Solaris 10 U4 (no additional patches)
Hi there, situation: a samba share on a zfs filesystem, after a user (also owner) changes acl on a file/directory the acl is messed up and nobody, also the owner, has access to the file/directory anymore. I've also used the vfs objects = zfsacl nfs4: mode = special combination in the share, any ideas ? regards Manfred
