Is Samba PDC + NT4 DOM Trust using NTLMv2 possible?
My Question:
------------
Is it possible to get 2-way Interdomain Trust relationships working between a Samba domain and an
NT4 SP6a domain, while restricting all password hashes to NTLMv2 only?
Everything works except the inter-domain trust
I'm able to get the NT4 domain to trust the Samba domain, but not the other way around.

Samba-3 / ADS problems with trusted domain
Hello,
I'm running Mandrake 9.2 and Samba-3.0.2a
I'm connecting a Samba Server as a Domain member to an 2003 ADS, called TEST2. I've been able to create the computer account. I've also tested successfully, from Chapter 7 of ' Samba HOWTO Collection' with a W2K client logon/mount a share from the samba server using Kerberos. The testing of the smbclient was also

Upgrade to Samba 4.12 question
Hello, guys.
I?d like to upgrade our Samba 4.11 AD to 4.12. In release notes,
REMOVED FEATURES, I see this:
?Retiring DES encryption types in Kerberos.
------------------------------------------
With this release, support for DES encryption types has been removed
from
Samba, and setting DES_ONLY flag for an account will cause Kerberos
authentication to fail for that account (see RFC-6649).?

ADS authentication stopped working
Running Samba mostly on Redhat 5 with version 3.5.4-0.83
Also failed on Debian 3.5.6 and Solaris with a 3.5 version.
Logging details here are from Redhat case.
We have a similar problem on all Unix/Linux systems using
ADS as the backend authentication for samba shares on Unix/Linux.
It was working before today and we didn't change anything.
Today, any time we try smbclient or a Windows drive

Samba3+Win9x userlist, Bug?!
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Dear List,
Few days ago I've posted, that my Win9x boxes are unable to get the list
of domain users and groups from samba-3.0.0 server (for details see bug
596). Unfortunately the same is true for samba-3.0.1pre1.
Please people also having win9x boxes and Samba3 PDC confirm that it is
a bug, or a configuration error.
Thanks for any suggestion.

Login scripts and Win9x clients
Hi all,
I have two systems using Win98 and one using Win95. These three systems do
not automatically execute their login scripts. I can map the network drives
manually and tell them to reconnect at login, but I am wondering why they
don't execute them. I can log in, browse to my netlogon share (if I make it
browseable), and execute the script manually, and it works. Well, it mostly

no logon server
I have an NT domain on Debian Stretch. It's been upgraded numerous
times, but has been running for almost a decade. Since upgrading from
4.1.17 to 4.3.3 (huge Debian jump), then to 4.3.6, clients cannot
connect to shares. Prior to upgrading, I found the changes mentioned
for 4.2 regarding NT domains and applied them. Even so, I still cannot
connect to network shares nor print to

Help needed using Samba over SSH (DOS works, Win9x doesn't)
Hi all,
I've been trying to mount partitions on a UNIX machine behind a
firewall on a Windows machine. This works fine inside the firewall,
but from outside I need to tunnel through it using SSH. I can
get this to work from a DOS window on the Windows machine by
forwarding port 139, but when I try to access a file from the
GUI, I get a "bad directory" error on windows. An

Win9x via Kix unable to get extended user attributes
Hi all,
In trying to upgrade Samba here, I have built various versions from
3.0.11 to 3.0.14a using various versions of gcc and the Sun compiler
(this is on Solaris SPARC) and had the following problem in all cases.
Running the built samba as a logon server, I find that WinXP clients
work fine but Win9X clients have some difficulties. The problem is that
the Win9X logon script can't

3.6.6 map untrusted to domain does not work if winbind is running
Hi all,
I have a domain member server 3.6.6 running on debian7, authenticating
against another debian7 + samba 3.6.6 in DC-mode. Both servers have
user-accounts and groups on LDAP and resolve posix users using libnss-ldap.
The groupmap is living on LDAP as well.
The domain member server serves a share with ACL enabled. I got the upgrade
to 3.6.X and idmap-updates working, but the old

A Group Policy Question in Win9x (yes, another one).
I am wondering if anyone has ever answered the question of group policy operability under Windows 9x. That is, I am _not_ looking for a work-around but the real thing--one config.pol file to service several groups.
I have done my homework, hopefully well, but found nothing. To prove this, I will quickly summarize my findings below. Either I have found:

User list problem on Win9x.
I'm a bit confused about user enumeration on Win9x boxes.
I've got a couple of machines running SaMBa. One (M2Dual) is
running 2.0.7 with security = domain and domain server = M2Hub.
The other (M2Hub) is running 2.2.3a with security = user.
I also have three Win9x machines. All have user level security
turned on. Roving profiles work on all machines and all users.

Safe Win9x?
I want to install a linux samba server to serve 30 win9x machines. I
want to prevent users from writing on the local drives, they should
have write access only to their home dirs on the samba box. These
users have a nasty habit of deleting crucial system files.
Is it at all possible with win9x and samba? Of course NT workstations
could resolve the problem, but that's not an option with these

seeing/setting file or directory owners from win9x just like from nt/w2k
Hi All,
Is there a way (speak command/wsh script) that allows a win9x
workstation that is logged into a samba domain server (running
onlinux for example) to see from the workstation what owner a
certain file or directory has?
Under win2k the "dir /q" command does this adequately.
And if this is possible, is it then possible for someone to change
the ownership of a file to another

this a problem with win9x machines or do i need to do something else to get
the time to be set from the
