ADS joined, can't manage shares from MMC
I have a samba 3.0.14 server attached to a 2003 ADS server. (verified
with: wbinfo -u/-g, getent passwd/group, net ads testjoin)
And i can attach to the Samba server using an XP workstation's MMC,
but when i attempt to change ACL's (share perms or security tab) i get
a warning window popup stating, "Changes cannot be saved. Access is
denied"
I am logged into the AD/DC as

Samba4 - Manage DNS with MMC shows "ghost" Entries
Hi,
We wanted to deploy Samba4 in our existing Samba3 Environment. So far
everything (migrating the user data etc) went quite well, but after the
initial domain-deployment we are seeing ghost entries or random data in our
"DNS" MMC snap-in on our windows client. Every refresh triggers a new view.
Basically it is the problem/bug outlined here:

Status of samba packages in Debian
It's been some time since I didn't send an update about samba packages
in Debian. Here it is. Fairly long, sorry for this.
As preliminary facts: Debian entered a full freeze in Mid-August, in
preparation of the next release, codename "squeeze". It means that
packages uploaded to Debian unstable no longer migrate to testing
(which is "the next release", so squeeze right

managing unix services remotely from mmc on windows
Hello List!
May I humbly submit my apologies if this has been done to death already and if
so, please consider this a feature request for a *searchable* mailing list
archive ;)
I'm loving the idea of being able to use one of my windows servers to start
and stop the *nix services via the computer management console. Makes life
easier for the less *nix savvy members of my team.
I've

Can't use DNS Manager in MMC on Samba 4.12.0
We normally do this via attachments to bugzilla bugs restricted to the
samba developers group. Start by filing a bug about this.

Can't use DNS Manager in MMC on Samba 4.12.0
If you can see:
Privacy: Make attachment and comment private (visible only to
members of the samba-devel group)
then tick that, otherwise I'll have to make the bug private first and
then lock the attachment and re-publish the bug..

MMC crashes with rc6
Hello,
I am having a problem after performing a classicupgrade with rc6. This did
not happen with previous RCs. When adding any of the AD MMC snap-ins from a
member computer, MMC crashes with the error below. I have the provision
scripted and am using the same ldif, smb.conf and /var/lib/samba, so I'm
fairly certain the only difference is rc6. I am testing with a Win 7 VM

Problem using MMC: To manage Group Policy, you must log on to the computer with a domain user account
Hi.
I downloaded the the "Remote Server Administration Tools" but whenever I want to add the group policy snap in I get the subject error message even though I am logged in as domain admin on the client work station.
System(s):
* CentOS 6.7 (all latest patches except samba due to one XP machine I have to keep due to legacy software, but not long!)
* Clients are all Windows 7 bar 1

Glitches adding homedir profiles to a samba share with AD MMC?
Hi all,
We have a mixed network environment with Samba servers providing file
storage for windows, Linux and MAC 0SX users. Authentication is
handled by Active Directory on Win2K SP. On our campus we allow
computer lab teachers to add users via the Active Directory MMC.
However we have a couple of issues which make this far from seamless:
After users are added to AD, the lab admin will add a

Can't use DNS Manager in MMC on Samba 4.12.0
On Samba 4.12.0, I receive the error "ndr_pull_uint32:
ndr_pull_error(Buffer Size Error): Pull bytes 4
(../../librpc/ndr/ndr_basic.c:152) at ../../librpc/ndr/ndr_basic.c:152"
when opening the DNS Manager in MMC.
This jumped out at me from the log-level 10 output (I'm happy to send
the full logs but would rather do that somewhere more private):

AW: debian Lenny -> Squeeze domU mdX software raidmigration - failed to assemble arrays
Hi,
to make transitions more convenient, I've done this by using uuid instead of device names.
If you ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid inside your domU, you'll see something like
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 39a2a64b-0716-47ad-92f4-a7437cac54ee -> ../../sda2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 e8b97b59-a790-417c-8231-fe8da8b6e6ee -> ../../sda1
In /etc/fstab inside the domU,

Using Icecast over IPv6
Hi,
I realise this might be a Debian-specific question.
I've got access to two hosts which have IPv6 connectivity, both of which
are running Icecast 2.3.2. One is still running Debian Lenny and can be
reached via IPv6 just fine, but the other is running Debian Squeeze and
cannot. In addition, my local server which does not have IPv6 conectivity
to the Internet but which can be reached

Can't use DNS Manager in MMC on Samba 4.12.0
No worries Andrew. I haven't upgraded all servers yet so it's not urgent!
Is there a secure place I can upload my logs for when there's time to
take a look?
Cheers

Bits from the Samba packaging team in Debian
Hello dear Samba (and hopefully Debian/Ubuntu) users,
Please find here some news from the team that packages Samba for
Debian (and threfore indirectly for Ubuntu).
As some of you might know, Debian 5.0 "lenny" was released on February
14th.
Samba provided in lenny in the 3.2.5 version plus two fixes from
3.2.6:
* Fix segfault whan accessign some NAS devices running old versions of
