Samba 4 slower file transfer under AD DC mode
Hi,
I?m running a samba 4.0.16 under Debian Squeeze 6.0.9, i?ve noted under standalone role mode file transfer on shares is almost twice as fast compared to AD DC mode for big and small files .Settings for the shares when was testing under standalone mode was exactly the same, any suggestions ?

smbcacls and inheritance does not work as expected
Hi,
I can not get the inheritance the way I want.
My goal is, (1) to create a new Set of ACLs at directory "HERE" and (2) "set" the Windows checkbox "Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object"
My command looks like:
smbcacls //mynas/share1 some/path/HERE

vfs_fruit and extended attributes
It seems not many folks have much to say about this.
Here?s an update for anyone in a similar situation:
We narrowed down the issue to being with dispersed volumes. When we created a replicated volume, vfs_fruit worked without issue.
Ultimately, what we were seeking was performance. Even for our Windows and Linux users, things could be slow. The good news is that we discovered an SMB config

Help needed. Samba 3.2.0rc2 - IDMAP - Windows 2008 Server - ADS Integration - Winbind
Hi,
I read at least 100 different documentations during the last week and
didn't get it. So I decided to ask the list for help :)
Unfortunately we have to move to a Windows 2008 Server ADS in our
company as this is required for some other projects. But we want to
keep our nice 5+ samba-server providing fast 50TB+ of storage.
So we have to find a way to nicely integrate the storage with the

Samba 4.7.1 Switching from SAMBA_INTERNAL to BIND_DLZ failed
Hi List!
Im trying to switch from using the samba internal dns to bind.
Im running a self-compiled samba 4.7.1 pair of DCs on Centos 7.2.
After following the steps in the wiki, named refuses to start with this error:

Yes, they were just comments, but unraid should really fix their Samba

Hi Rowland!
Yes there are samba packages installed:

Domain & workgroup on separate subnets?
I've been fighting with this for a while, and I can't
get it to work, so I'd like to know if it's even
possible!
I've got two subnets .3.x and .4.x which are routed via
a dual-homed Linux box.
The .3.x subnet is the main company network, and runs
an domain BLUETREE. The two domain controllers are
also WINS servers. All machines in this network are
domain members.
The .4.x

Server-Side Copy Offload Limitations
Sorry if config was messy, we were using this server for various tests
including ADS tests and n-way master replication. Back on topic,
I've done changes to configuration as you suggested. Runing debian as
standalone server with beforementioned enviroment I can still copy files
between shares on the same pool without pushing them through Windows
client. Is this intended behavior?

Samba 4.5: trying to setup an omnios system as a DC member
Hello Rowland,
thanks, configuring the uidNumber and gidNumber on the AD fixed the
issue, now getent passwd works.
I just have one remaining issue, it seems the ACL doesn't work.
As an example when I set ACL with full permission for user andrea:
# /usr/bin/ls -ldV /cache/testsamba/
