samba 4.1.17
Sorry for posting the issue that has been forgotten long ago.
But the problem I am facing still exists.
What I have noticed is that when different users (more than one user) work on the same office file irrespective of the timeframe, the users who have/had full access to the documents lose all their rights and get "access denied message". Other Office Documents that are used only by

Invalid key 0 given to dptr_close on Samba 4.1 Domain Controller/File Server
Hello,
I am currently working on a solution to replace Apple OpenDirectory on some aging Xserve hardware. I currently have CentOS Samba4 AD DC?s replicating for redundancy using sernet-samba repositories. The third one has File/Print roles defind and it works perfectly EXCEPT on OSX 10.6. IT works great on any Windows workstation and OSX 10.7,10.8, 10.9 GNOME/Nautilus and even CIFS CLI mounting

RAID handling in UPS Shutdown script
I have read the NUT document /usr/share/doc/nut-2.2.0/docs/shutdown.txt
And in particular the section called "RAID Warning".
In response to this section I have added the two lnes, but haven't yet
tested it:
mdadm --readonly /dev/md0
mdadm --readonly /dev/md1
into /etc/rc.d/init.d/halt
Thus:
-----------
# Remount read only anything that's left mounted.

Problem with PRODUCTION machine, please respond quickly!!
Dear Samba guru...
I have a problem when I try to remove some files on a samba share... I
see this in my samba.log:
[2006/08/04 10:58:55, 1]
smbd/posix_acls.c:store_inheritance_attributes(252)
store_inheritance_attribute: Error Permission denied
But I'm the owner of the file?!
We use Samba 3.0.21b-1 which is a member of a W2K3 AD domain. This has
worked before, so don't

Samba 4 provisioning error on Ubuntu 12.04
Hi all,
I am trying hard to get a Ubuntu server up and running with Samba 4 installed so it can function as an? Activie Directory server in windows network.
I installed 12.04 on a reasonable box and this went well.
I then followed the instructions for getting Samba 4 installed and running.

I was able to complete steps 1 to 3 - get,

extended attributes, samba and OS2
Hi,
I appologise if this totally irritates people as there seems to be quite
a lot of info about this issue but a lot of it is quite old, for samba
2.x and kernels around 2.0 also. I have been beating my head against it
for a little while - bumped into a dead end now ;(
I am running centos-3 x86_64 (RH ES equiv) with samba 3.0.7-1 as the
server, and OS2 as the client. Kernel is 2.4.21-20.EL.

Is ACL+extended attributes exclusive with mask/mode family options?
Hello list,
I've got a question from reading Using Samba 3rd, where it puts:
... the final permission is caculated by below filters in the order used by
Samba:
1. Apply any DOS attribute mapping options << I take this as
either map DOS attributes to execute bits, or store DOS attributes in
extended attributes. Correct?
2. Apply the create mask settings
3. Apply the force

mdadm --readonly which device in halt?
Setting up nut on a system where an LVM volume holds the root
filesystem.. What is the appropriate device form to use with "mdadm
--readonly" in halt? This is on a CentOS 5 system. So far I have found
three possibilities, but I do not know which one (if any) will still be
valid that late in the halt procedure:
1. /dev/md0 (from posts on the net)

Samba 3.6 directory ACLs
I have ACLs working for files with the following set in my share
definitions:
inherit permissions = yes
inherit acls=yes
map acl inherit=yes
vfs_objects = acl_tdb
While testing my Samba configuration, I found that permissions are being set
to 'special' for directories being copied from Windows instead of the ACL
being fully populated. Does Samba 3.6 fully implement ACLS, or are

Regarding the insertion of "user_xattr,acl,barrier=1" in to /etc/fstab
file.
The Sambawiki page 'https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/OS_Requirements'
has instructions there for ext4 to include this.
I seen it commented here, in the mailing list, many time that this is
now default for ext4.
Maybe the wiki page should be changed?

Re: disk config
Since your actually forming the raid on dom-0 and not inside of the
guest, there is absolutely no need to load md and associated modules in
the guest at all. The guest will just see the volume group you are
exporting as a regular sata drive the same size as the vg being
exported.
I''m guessing the second drive is for swap?
Hope this helps

Trouble installing SWAT on a Samba 4 Alpha 13 build onUbuntu Server
Hey! I hope I help you:
You should have the share folder in smb.conf like this:

And then configure the permission like this message says:
Then!!!
Log in from a domain member (xp or whatever windows) with your

OK, are you actually running samba as an NT4-style PDC, or are running
samba as an AD DC ? they are very different.

Problems with ext3 fs
Hi,
Apologies, this is going to be quite long - I'm going to provide as much
info as possible.
I'm running a system with ext3 fs on software RAID. The RAID set-up is as
shown below:
jlm@nijinsky:~$ cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [linear] [raid0] [raid1] [raid5]
read_ahead 1024 sectors
md0 : active raid1 hdc1[1] hda1[0]
96256 blocks [2/2] [UU]
md5 : active raid1 hdk1[1] hde1[0]
