smb_panic sys_setgroups failed
Hi,
We have Samba version 3.5.4 and we are using winbind (Active Directory) for authorisation.
The issue is that for most of the members of a Samba share it is not possible to connect this Samba share. This because of the error below. It seems to be that the number of Active Directory groups where this Samba member belongs to is too high.
UNIX token of user 588109
Primary group is 10049 and

Samba/Winbind issue
Hi,
I have an issue with Samba using winbind. We have Active Directory groups with underscores (for example sambagroup_underscore). But an underscore in Samba (Unix) is a space in Active Directory.
So my question is what character is used in Samba (Unix) for an underscore in Active Directory? Or are there other solutions to solve this?
I would be very happy if you can help me!

hostbased authentication and the root account
We have a problem using hostbased authentication in combination with the
root account. We use hostbased authentication to hop from a 'management
server' where we use strong authentication to several systems in a cluster.
The management server is defined in shosts.equiv and the public key of this
server is defined in ssh_known_hosts. This setup works for all users except
for the root user

Compiling problem flac 1.0.4 Mandrake 9.0 gcc 3.2
Hi,
I just read the thread about making 3dnow optimisations default and thought I would test it as I have an AMD here.
Unfortunately I can not even compile with default (no 3dnow) options.
./configure goes fine including this part:
checking whether to build static libraries... yes
checking whether -lc should be explicitly linked in... no
creating libtool
checking for g++... no

Samba -> PANIC: sys_setgroups failed
Hi,
Hope someone out there can help me on this Samba issue. I'm running out of ideas, I spent days on Google but still have not find any solution yet. Finally, I got Samba 3.5.9 acts like it works, giving me data with wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g AND it returnsusers in my Active Directory with getent passwd & getent group. sys_setgroups failed on Solaris 11
Thanks for the feedback. This is not a testing environment. We deployed the Samba AD environment for our office PCs about one year ago. I am now trying to get the Samba file sharing into AD.
We use our mixed Linux/Unix environment heavily. All permissions and ACLs are set in Solaris using NFS4 ACLs on a ZFS filesystem. Our users are in active directory but the groups are not.
My understanding

sys_setgroups failed on Solaris 11
Hi,
I'm trying to create a new Samba server to share files. We currently have an instance of Samba 3.6 on another server which we are using but need to retire that server.
I recently set up a new AD domain on Samba 4.3.11 on Ubuntu 16.04. There are two domain controllers. Most of the PCs are joined to this AD domain.

Auto update
Hello, at this moment we use redhat and centos on mylaptop.
I upgraded from centos 5.2 to 5.3.
I have something strange, my auto update is not running any more, if
I start the update process manually and it is working.
If i do a clean install of centos 5.3 on a pc or laptop it is working.
My question is why is the auto update not running any more afther the
update process.

Spatial autocorrelation
Hi,
I have collected data on trees from 5 forest plots located within the
same landscape. Data within the plots are spatially autocorrelated
(calculated using Moran's I). I would like to do a ANCOVA type of
analysis combining these five plots, but the assumption that there is no
autocorrelation in the residuals is obviously violated. Does anyone have
any ideas how to incorporate these spatial

Difference between AIC in GLM and GLS - not an R question
Hi,
I have fitted a model using a glm() approach and using a gls() approach
(but without correcting for spatially autocorrelated errors). I have
noticed that although these models are the same (as they should be), the
AIC value differs between glm() and gls(). Can anyone tell me why they
differ?
Thanks,

smbd daemon crash when connect to shared folder
Hi All,
I've installed and configured Samba 3.5.11 on a Solaris 8 machine. I was able to join it to the 2008 R2 AD. However, its smbd daemon is crashed everytime I connect to its shared folder from the windows machine, so I'm not able to connect to its shared folders. Below is its log from smb.log file. Is there anyone has any idea what cause the problem? I appreciate very much

Robust linear models and unequal variance
Hi all,
I have probably a basic question, but I can't seem to find the answer in
the literature or in the R-archives.
I would like to do a robust ANCOVA (using either rlm or lmRob of the
MASS and robust packages) - my response variable deviates slightly from
normal and I have some "outliers". The data consist of 2 factor
variables and 3-5 covariates (fdepending on the model).
