Domain logins not working
I'm trying to set up a new server to replace my previous domain
controller/file&print server on my home network. My old server was
running Debian/Etch on a 32bit sempron system with two HDs. The new one
is running an old 64bit single-core processor and 3 HDs configured into
multiple RAID 1 and 5 arrays (/boot as RAID 1 and /, /home, swap and a
/backup directory as RAID 5). The new server

XP Pro password change problem
I've set up NT domains from scratch and things work. However, in this
case I vampired the old settings over to my new Samba PDC from a W2K
server which I then removed from the network. Everything almost works,
except ...
The main thing is that I can't seem to change the domain passwords from
the XP Pro workstations. Normally you do Ctrl-Alt-Del and select change
password, then fill

User can delete file when they have no read/write access
Im haveing a problem with my profiles share on my Samba 2.2.3 PDC server.
I have a share like this:
[profiles]
path = /home/samba/profiles
writeable = yes
create mask = 0700
directory mask = 0700
browsable = no
valid users = root,@smbusers
The roaming profile works just fine with windows2k, and the users can't read the other profiles (they get a "access

Moving roaming profiles between domains, risky?
OK, now i've to start to move the big part of my users from my old
NT-like domains to my new AD domain.
I've setup roaming profile in the new domain following the wiki
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles, 'using
windows ACL') and for new profiles works like a charm.
But i've tried to move/copy old profile to the new domain, and seems
work, with

question "add user script"
Hello all,
I have never had the need to use the "add user script" functionality but now I do. However, it does not seem to be working. My
smb.conf entry is like so:
add user script = /remote/configure_scripts/addusers.sh
where addusers.sh is a bash script that reads in a text file of usernames, groups, and passwords and adds the users to /etc/passwd,
/etc/group/ and

I'm following the Debian wiki at
https://wiki.debian.org/AuthenticatingLinuxWithActiveDirectory since it
seems to be the only one I can find and since I'm running
Debian/Bookworm on an AMD64 system. I'm in the section "Configure

changing passwords from Windows XP Pro workstations
Back to square 1! I stripped out my unsuccessful attempts to get Samba
working with LDAP on my Debian Sarge server and am back with a tdbsam
backend. I actually tried to purge as much of the old Samba & LDAP as I
could then reinstalled fresh. This included removing the Windows groups
and users and even the old tdbsam data.
Unfortunately, I'm back where I started - users can't

clients not connecting to samba shares
My Samba setup was working until several months ago. I didn't do
anything to it that I can recall but it stopped letting my Windows VMs
connect. When I use smbclient to try to connect, I get session setup
failed: NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS
My Internet searches have revealed that this is a comon and
long-standing issue: frequently reported but I've had no luck finding
anyone posting a

答复: About the group setting in smb.conf.
Hi Gary,
My environment is FreeBSD 5.4 , Samba 3.0.12 and the users are =
authenticated by AD server(that is the "password server" points to this =
server)
It seems no "groupmap" command on freebsd,
How I can solve this issue?
Thanks!
