ADS groups and 'valid users'
I am attempting to get a Debian box running Samba 3.0.23d (latest from debian testing) to work with our shiny new Windows 2003 server PDC. I can join the domain. windbinds various wbinfo commands return all the groups and users, as does getent. I can access everything from the PDC. Effectively, everything works _except_ specifying a group to 'valid users'. My smb.conf[0] is run of the

No domainserver found
I am trying to configure Samba 2.2.7 as a PDC on a Mandrake 9.0 box, mainly serving Win ME clients. Every time I try to logon to my domain, I get something in the line of(Translated from danish): "No domainserver found. Windows cannot blah blah blah..." However, once logged in to Windows, I can access my home and shares, and the server shows up in the Network neighbourhood. Both the

Difficulties with samba and ADS
Hello. I thought I had this fixed 3 times now... but it keeps coming up. I have 2 smbservers that are part of an ADS domain (windows 2003 server). I have my samba servers set up, and it works great for a month or so, then it starts giving smbmount and smbclient a hard time. This is very bad news because I rely upon smbmount heavily. When I try to view the shares my main server, and use the

DFS not working from XP
Hi, I'm am trying to configure our samba server to use dfs. It authenticates against active directory but it gets the uid mappings from nis via the local nsswitch. I think I have configured dfs ok as smbclient[1] seems to work ok with my minimal config[2]. However I can't access it from Windows XP[3], I get "network path was not found" when using "net use" from a

"Could not convert SID" error - different results for the same AD query
I have a situation where users sometimes can't access shares on samba servers, and sometimes (a minute later) can. This is Samba 3.6.3 on Ubuntu 12.04, using Winbind against a Windows 2008 AD server. Comparing the success and failure debug logs I managed to capture, I see this difference: This line is present in the log of the failed attempt, but not the successful attempt: [2014/03/21

Samba loose the user forward as member Server
Hi, Is your replication between you PDC and you member server working? You can run "samba-tool drs showrepl". Which should help you determine if the replication is functioning correctly. Here is a related link to the Samba wiki that may help :-) https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_Troubleshooting Best Regards, - Rylan On Wed, Sep 21, 2016 at 2:32 AM, admins aixtema via

valid users = +group doesn't work
Hi all, I seem to be having a problem identical to this bug: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3940 in Samba 3.0.28, however the bug is supposed to be fixed by now. I have a Fedora 7 box joined as a member to Windows 2003 domain. All my Windows users have accounts on the Samba machine, with the same user name in Windows and in Unix. I have a share with valid users = +group, where

Samba working (has been for years) but logs full of NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Hi. My samba server is working for everybody but the logs are full of "NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED" messages So I turned logging a little higher and found out what shares/files are accessed when this happens. It, too, happens not to ALL users. I see this: guest user (from session setup) not permitted to access this share (TestPrograms) [2015/03/17 16:00:58.165672, 1]

Vista SP1-rc1 appears to break against Samba-3.0.27a
We've got nicely ADS integrated Samba-3.0.27a servers that are working fine with Win2000 through to standard Vista. However, we are starting to test RC1 of Vista SP1 and discovered that once applied, that workstation cannot connect to Samba server shares - unless the share is open - i.e. no "valid user" style settings. The moment one is defined, Vista fails to connect and pops up an

werr_access_denied when running setdriver for a printer
Hi all, I'm getting WERR_ACCESS_DENIED error for some of the printers when running setdriver printer_name printer_driver as part of the cupsaddsmb step. Weirdly, it works for some printers, and never works for others, while all the printers have the same settings. Samba 3.5.20 with CUPS 1.5.4. AD Groups Failing to Authorize in Valid Users (does not start with S-)
For the last 3 weeks I've been working on getting RHEL4 (and 5, but that's a different story) to play well with Active Directory, OpenLDAP, Kerberos, PAM and NSS. It's been a long struggle but I now have a process to authenticate and authorize a RHEL4 client to a windows Active Directory server to that my AD Users can log into my Linux boxes (assuming their group permissions are set
