net use z: \\sambapdc\share1 <file:///\\sambapdc\share1>
However I still get prompted for a user name and password. I don't seem
to have a way to force the "net" command to connect anonymously.
If I can force an anonymous connection from Windows, then I should be OK.
(Again, this share does not contain information that needs much protection.)
Thanks

Samba trusts, mapping issue, and pam crap domain
I am running Samba ver 3.0.37 on Solaris 10 (sparc) as a PDC with LDAP for
the backend for both samba and unix accounts. Assume the samba SMBPDC is
called "PDC."
I have also set up a trust with an Windows domain- lets call it
WINDOMAIN- (the PDC for the Windows domain is Win 2003 but is in mixed mode
for backwards compat.) The SAMBA domain trusts the WINDOWS domain, not not

Samba 4 "Classic PDC" trusts fail with Win 2012 domain but succeed Win 2008
I noticed that smbclient worked on some solaris 11 machines but not
others. The issue a slightly different version of libarchive on the
machine (0.12 vs 0.13), even though I thought all machines had been
patched to the same level. So I decided to recompile.
When recompiling samba 4.4.7 on solaris 11 I saw the following warning

I am trying to configuring Samba 4 classic PDC to trust Windows 2012

windows xp suddenly unable to find pdc (samba-2.2.7a)
All,
I am a brand new admin for a network comprised of
FreeBSD 4.8 samba/dhcp/dns servers with identical
kernels and XP/2002/98 machines. Our primary
samba/dhcp server had a hardware failure. I had no
difficulty using backup config files to enable samba
and dhcp on our existing DNS server, because the
software had already been installed for testing
purposes. So, there is now one samba/dns/dhcp

User longer than 20 characters can't join domain (windows 7 pro)
We are using samba 3.4.8.
We have some pc's using OS Windows XP Pro dan others Windows 7 Pro.
All of them can join and logon domain to samba PDC + LDAP.
FYI, the windows 7 clients are already hacked at registry settings:

Failed login with some of the accounts
Hello all,
My Samba server has undergone a series of migration.
And recently, I found that the newer accounts fails to login to older
computers in the network.
All PCs in my network runs Window XP. And I'm running Samba 3.4.7 here as
PDC.
When I login with a new account called "guest2", the computer says the
password of my login is incorrect.
What is my problem? What should I

upgraded samba server causes winXP integrated authentication to fail
Hi
I've talked about this in other messages but have a feeling it might
have got lost amongst the other symptoms we were discussing.
I had a Redhat 9 server on which I'd installed Samba 3.5.6 (built from
source). I had it authenticating successfully against a windows 2008
active directory server.
I then upgraded the Redhat server to RHEL5.3, on which I installed

I'm concerned about trying to get the file share Staff to work - want it

and added myself to the group

Samba clients losing domain membership
Hello,
we are currently in the process of migrating Windows machines to Ubuntu
10.04. For now, these machines act as samba clients in a Windows domain
(which is controlled also by a samba PDC), and are itself sharing files
via SMB/CIFS. The clients are - from time to time and with no apparent
reason - losing their domain membership. When this happens, access to
shares on the PDC still seems to

Problem with Samba cutting dir listings short
Hi,
I have a peculiar problem with my Samba installation. I have a directory with
lots of files that I want to make available via Samba. I can connect just fine,
but I quickly noticed a lot of files seemed to be missing.
After some testing I found out that the directory listing was simple cut off,
right in the middle of a filename even. I created a test-directory with 1000
random files in
