New Wiki HowTo: Restoring deleted AD objects
Hello,
after 2 month of being offline, I finally got a working internet
connection again and can announce myself back to continue working on
HowTos in the Wiki. :-)
During the last time, I did a lot of research about the possibilities
and limitations of restoring deleted objects in a Samba AD. I think it
is a very helpfull topic for administrators. The results I wrote down in
a new HowTo:

Hi,
are there any known issues with dovecot/director (2.2.13) when
receiving e-an mail with multiple receivers? In the given scenario the
e-mail contains 3 recipients and is redirected by the director to 3
different mail servers (ox/dovecot @ UCS/univention). In this process
the first 2 e-mails are just fine but the third e-mail is truncated

authenticate LDAP to email server
Sorry for top posting, don't mean to, looks like my outlook mobile client does it by default
Ok great thanks Daniel for this, also do you know if I have to change/edit the config files for postfix/openldap as well or just for dovecot
Thank you

Does Dovecot allow different clients to subscribe different subsets of IMAP folders?
Hi Daniel,
Hmm - I'm happy to use different 'user names' to log into Dovecot... as
long as each of these logins can still subscribe to the same universe of
folders I have available at present. I can envision using steve_mobile
and steve_desktop as logins, as long as these still provide access to
the same mailboxes as I have in steve's Maildir folder.
I'm guessing that

maybe OT: Univention.de UCS
Hello List,
the UCS GUI Univention made looks quite nice and useful. Since they put
it open source it became interesting for us.
I am a little confused that they only provide ISO images and not the
Management Project as source code since I don't want to depend on them.
Has someone got a little experience with it?
Thanks, Mario

rsync -a --update resets status of newer target directories
Hi,
this is a question regarding the behavior of the --update option for the
recursive replication of directories. rsync 3.0.7-2 shows the following
behavior on a Debian squeeze system (ext4):
After running the following commands the adjusted ownership of the
subdirectory /tmp/dst/sub below the target directory is overwritten and its
newer modification time is reset to that of the older

Get PasswordMustChangeNow parameter from command line
Perfect, I got the parameter I needed! I just checked for
`msDS-UserPasswordExpiryTimeComputed`, and if it's 0, then I know the
password needs to change on the next login!
Thanks! I honestly had no idea what the attributes were, but now I see
they're the attributes that are in Active Directory.

Get PasswordMustChangeNow parameter from command line
I am adapting a script that needs to know whether a user needs to change
their password on the next login from NT to AD with Samba.
I have tried "samba-tool user getpassword <user> --attributes
PwdMustChangeNow", but that's not giving me anything useful - just a DN,
and "Got password OK" (even on users that do need the password to change).
Is there another line I

sambaPwdLastSet=0 vs sambaPwdMustChange=0
Hi all,
Something is unclear to me, maybe someone here can explain.
I want to users to get the "you are required to change your password"
dialogue, when they logon for the first time.
According to the documentation setting sambaPwdMustChange=0 should work.
However, on my setup, it does NOT work. The user can log on, but is NOT
asked to change his or her password.

a problem with using qcow2 format image files as virtual disks
Hi,
In most cases we use image files as virtual disks under the full-virtualization situation. On the version 4.1.2 of xen,I do the following command:
############################################################
dd if=/dev/zero of=myraw.img bs=1M seek=8K count=1
#Before the command below I install the operating system in myraw.img
qemu-img-xen create -b myraw.img -f qcow2 myqcow1.img 20000M
