wins across two networks
I have two networks connected via ipsec with openswan. Each network
contains one samba server managing one workgroup each one. The network
structure is the following one:

200.x.x.x ----internet----- 64.x.x.x ---- Samba: 192.168.1.1

Graceful handling of temporary failure in name resolution when generating emails?
Hi,
I''m getting an infrequent "Socket Error (getaddrinfo: Temporary failure in
name resolution)" when sending e-mail with ActionMailer. Most of the time,
mail works. But I noticed the error during testing and wondered what best
practices might be for handling this kind of error. My SMTP settings look
OK. I''m running RHEL 3 for my Rails app and use an external SMTP

WINS across two networks and a router
Hello, everybody. This one''s got me stumped. What I''m trying to do is have
two networks--192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0--with SMB and WINS running between
them. So far I can mount SMB shares allright, but I can''t browse by WINS
names across the router. I''ve posted this question on Linuxquestions.org;
you''ll find the details there.

Cannot login to PDC(FreeBSD boxen) from client(win XP)
I'm finally getting somewhere in setting up my FreeBSD PDC. I try and
login via my XP client and now it gives me this odd message. "Cannot
login because a duplicate user already exists on the network. Please
goto control panel and system and change your computer name." Sorta
paraphrased there, perhaps off by a word or two but that's pretty much
what it tells me. I'm just

WINS server DMB and LMBs not communicating across subnet to update browse lists?
Referencing: http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/network_administration_guides/samba_reference_guide/17_NetworkBrowsing_34.html
I've got two subnets (192.168.2.1 and 192.168.1.1). All the machines on both subnets are running XP Home or Pro and are all part of the same workgroup (WORKGROUP).
I've added an OpenSUSE box on x.x.2.1 and have set it as the WINS server with a very simple

Problem connecting two home networks (Windows/Linux)
Hi all,
After having read most of the available documentation I still have got
problems interconnecting two networks in router mode:
My configuration consists of two private home networks that I want to
connect:
Vienna 192.168.0.0/24 - Internet gateway 192.168.0.1
Berlin 192.168.1.0/24 - Internet gateway 192.168.1.1
VPN Devices are configured as 192.168.3.1 (Vienna) and 192.168.3.2

/etc/networks file
I am having some network connectivity issues that manifest itself through ping, wget, dnf, etc.
The symptoms are intermittent ability to ping, was wget, or connect to repositories.
Where this inquiry is going is: If your internal network is using 192.168.1 or 10..50.10, what
should be in /etc/networks.
My current file contains:
default 0.0.0.0
loopback 127.0.0.0
link-local 169.254.0.0

Graceful Asterisk Shutdown
My Gurus!
I'm still playing with asterisk in the lab here. There
is a feature that I need in a production asterisk
system. I was wondering if it already exists in
asterisk.
When we want to shutdown a production asterisk system,
we would like the shutdown to happen after there are
no
more calls being processed. In other words, a shutdown
command that does the following:
- block asterisk

KEX graceful failure
Dear all,
I am currently implementing an experimental key exchange (KEX) algorithm.
Unlike current algorithms like DH, mine needs to be able to fail gracefully,
and in case of failure, continue with whatever algorithm would have been
negotiated if mine was not selected.
My strategy for graceful failure is to remove my KEX algorithm from
myproposal[KEX_DEFAULT_KEX] and to initiate a new key

libvirt guests graceful shutdown upon hosts powerdown/reboot
hi everybody
by an assumption I expected VM guests to be shut down/off
gracefully when the host is being powered down or rebooted,
but this does not seem to be the case so I wonder..
Am I missing some libvirt components/packages ?
Or my assumption is incorrect and guests have to be shutdown
manually?
it's all SL 7 and guest are M$

Graceful dovecot reload for LE certificate renewals
Hi Dovecot-gurus
With the introduction of LE certificates the certificate renewal cycle is a lot faster, unfortunately even a "dovecot reload" cuts the existing connections when doing the cert updates, which is quite frustrating - and yes most clients automatically reconnect but still...
Is any work going into implementing a more ?graceful reload? for dovecot like the one for nginx

Re: libvirt guests graceful shutdown upon hosts powerdown/reboot
should have mentioned, apologies, suspend is the graceful
shutdown of the guest I was thinking of.
Guest is win2k8, why would it not suspend?
