Hopefully a quick question. My Windows AD administrator is moving to Windows 2008R and is about to switch off the last Windows 2003 domain controller. He also wants to switch off the compatible WINS and NETBIOS off as well. Does samba 3 work in this environment or do I need to tell him to keep then working? Hi all, I've setup samba4 according to the samba4 wiki on centOS 5.4 in KVM. This went without any problems. I only had to install a higher version of bind to 9.6.x because Centos bind in repo will install version 9.3.x. I've used the Fedora12 source rpms for this to build bind 9.6.x on Centos 5.4. Hi Daniel,  In that example that I wrote, I didn't create users yet, because I did public share only, but windows tell that I don't have permission. Do I need to create groups and users to that situation too? But when I add private share, I create local users (add user) and samba user, but when I type user and password Samba answer that I don't have permission too.I think the problem

Have a 2003 server located outside of the Domain network over a VPN. The server originally existed inside the network (10.1.1.0/24) but now exists on 10.10.12.0/24.
