Samba with multiple domains with LDAP backend
Hi.
I need to setup a single Samba server with multiple domains.
I did more than one setup with single domain, but I'm having troubles finding info about multiple domain, especially with LDAP.
Can anyone point me to a link, possibly with examples, on how to configure such a setup?
many thanks

Expiring password problem with AD config
Hi.
I've set up a configuration with a Samba PDC usgin Ubuntu 10.04 and Samba 3.4.7.
The backend is LDAP (zimbra ldap).
I've an annoying issue, where even if in LDAP for every user I set "password never expires", at every login Windows prompts me for changing it.
Is there anything I can check?
thanks

comment = Printer Drivers
path = /dati/samba/drivers
browseable = yes
guest ok = no

Security context stack overflow on Debian5+LDAP
Hi
I'm setting up a Samba PDC, with auth over Zimbra's LDAP, with this howto:
http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?title=UNIX_and_Windows_Accounts_in_Zimbra_LDAP_and_Zimbra_Admin_UI_6.0
System is a fully updated Debian 5. All packages from distro. Samba is 3.2.5-4lenny6.
Now everything is almost ok, but I'm getting an error when trying to mount the samba share:

have to enter the password twice to login.

Asterisk + iaxmodem + hylafax makes sometimes wedged for hylafax
Hi, we have a faxserver with Asterisk, IAXModem and Hylafax.
Faxes come from a SIP trunk to Asterisk, then are forwarded throught 5 IAXModems managed with Hylafax.
Hylafax users can also send faxes to these modems and Asterisk send them throught the SIP trunk.
We also have a dedicated modem used only for sending faxes coming from an Hylafax dedicated user.
Sometimes Hylafax reports that a modem

DomU print server (usb problem)
Hi
I''m trying to set up a print server on a guest domain.
I have successfully installed the first parallel printer using a PCI
parallel port (as a side note, even if the card gets detected fine, the
modules are loaded correctly, I have to create /dev/lp0 manually after
every reboot! I tried with MAKEDEV but with no success. What''s the right

Networking problem on virtualized pfSense firewall
Hi.
I've a strange problem with networking and a KVM virtualized pfsense firewall.
My hw host is Ubuntu 12.04 fully updated, with two bridges br0 (LAN) and br1 (WAN).
pfSense is a KVM guest with the two interfaces in virtio mode.
When I run pfSense as fw, the host doesn't seem capable of doing tcp connections outside. I can ping any internal and exernal host, but when I try telnetting

log.samba missing rotation
Looks like a known issue when running samba as AD DC:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9673
Perhaps try logrotate service to help rotate log.samba:

Unable to "rejoin" existing DC after upgrade (infamous WERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
hi ,
thank's for your reply .
no , current DC doesn't have that GUID:
samba-tool spn list zimbra$
zimbra$
...
ldap/3ecb2a51-b21d-4bef-84ed-700db7963ff4._msdcs.domain.lan
samba-tool spn list landc$
landc$
...
ldap/5bf8cf1f-1e35-40c6-a20d-0abc88238d92._msdcs.domain.lan
that GUID is of the machine we are trying to join to:
samba-tool spn list nextcloud$
nextcloud$

What's the substitution of 'samba-tool domain provision' in v4.17.5

Both for Debian and Ubuntu it's better to use Michael repos, to get consistent minor release updates:

Are you sure there's no typo or hidden character? provision command is still there in 4.18.2 :)
# samba-tool domain provision
ERROR: No domain set!

With the repos you can select several minor versions (from 4.16 to .18), while backports only contains the latest (currently 4.18) IIRC.

Intermittent permission denied when accessing share
I never said the team does recommend it, still I don't see the purpose of saying "it's possible" when can be "fraught with problems". Maybe the wiki [1] should be more explicit on this, despite discouraging and suggesting better options it doesn't say it's highly problematic, it's still offered as an option.

I am quite confident about the command I was typing. :) And I copied from

Unable to access shares by server alias
Mandi a te!
Does it work just with the CNAME?
My config actually worked in the end, but I think after I added the spn entries. I was testing on a machine which didn't reflect the change, but probably because of caching (ifconfig /flushdns didn't help)
