'force create mode' not working when 'unix extensions = yes'
The parameters 'force create mode' and 'force directory mode' have no effect when the option 'unix extensions' is active. The documentation does not report any interaction between the unix extensions and the forced modes, so I'm assuming it's a bug.I'd like to know if it is a known bug ?Has it been solved, if so in which version ?
My server runs Debian lenny,

Samba AD member lost domain join after reboot
I put the usermapping but this does not solve the problem.
I do not use libpam_winbind and libpam-krb5 because I did not need to
log in server using domain accounts, it seems to me that this is not
mandatory, you confirm ?
Here are the permissions of the file /etc/krb5.keytab:

Samba clients losing domain membership
Hello,
we are currently in the process of migrating Windows machines to Ubuntu
10.04. For now, these machines act as samba clients in a Windows domain
(which is controlled also by a samba PDC), and are itself sharing files
via SMB/CIFS. The clients are - from time to time and with no apparent
reason - losing their domain membership. When this happens, access to
shares on the PDC still seems to

Trouble getting past net join ads...
I am in the process of getting samba working again with Activer
Directory. Recently our IT department
upgraded their windows server to 2008.
I am following the approach described here:
http://www.surlyjake.com/linux/samba/join-debian-lenny-to-active-directory-using-samba/
I am able to get kerberos to issue a ticket, but where I am running
into a wall is with the net join ads part...

Samba upgrade issue . . .
Ok Steve,
Now its time to edit the status file of the packages.
make a backup of : /var/lib/dpkg/status
open it with an editor.
search for "Package samba" , you probly see" installed ok not-configured.
and change status to : Status: install ok installed
after the change run : apt-get -f install
that should do the trick.

Classic upgrade and forced password change...
Yes, a know thing, but is he using jessie or stretch.
The upgrade from samba 4.2.x to 4.4.5 or up.
Few options.
1) check if /etc/nsswitch.conf contains :
,,, : compat winbind
And not : winbid compat
That bug is yesterday reported in debian.
apt-get remove samba winbind samba-*
When done
apt-get install samba winbind
This keeps all data.
Just dont purge.
Let me know if it worked for

Slow domain logons with samba PDC
Hi all,
I'm using samba 3.4.7 on a debian stable with kernel version 2.6.26-2 smp
running on a P4 3.0Ghz with 1Go memory.
There are about 50 users in the domain, all worked fine til i upgrade from
samba 3.0.14 to samba 3.2.5 from the stable debian repository and then to
samba 3.4.7 from the lenny-backports rep, as i've already seen slow logon with
the samba 3.2.5.
here is the result
