Samba Schema Error? Setting up PDC with LDAP
I have samba 3.0.10 and OpenLDAP(slapd) 2.2.13 on a redhat enterprise 4
machine.
I have modified the slapd.conf file according to the official Smaba3 by
example book.
I have copied samba.schema from the samba directory
/usr/share/doc/samba-3.0.10/LDAP/ to /etc/openldap/schema and included it in
the slapd.conf file:
include /etc/openldap/schema/core.schema

Did Microsoft release any useful information . . . ?
Hello,
I just read on an austrian news site ( http://futurezone.orf.at/hardcore/stories/289596/
) that Microsoft released documentation of some of their protocols.
On the site there are 4 links to Microsoft:

NIS schema clash
Hi list,
I'm trying to set up an OpenLDAP server to provide the goodies for samba
and postfix running on the same box - SUSE 9.2 Pro
The trouble start fairly early, unfortunately. I'm following the
idealx.org documentation, which suggest using samba.schema as well as
inetorgperson.schema and nis.schema. (John Terpstra's book suggest this
as well).
There seems to be a conflict

Samba4 additional schema
Hi,
Is there a possibility that we can add schema in Samba4? like sudo, nis et
al.
Or do we need an a separate ldap server like OpenLDAP to do it?
Hope someone enlighten my confusion and thank you.

failure to import ldif into ldap
Thanks all.. I have read the man of ldif.... your advice has gotten me
quite far both in my current implementation and in my overall
understanding of LDAP which I am hoping grows with each passing day.
In my attempt to build my current directory, I have taken a dump of
my last successful implementation (which was created on FreeBSD 8.1)
and substituted values for the dc=company and dc=com values

from /etc/passwd. for some reason ldapadd is choking on the first
entry... I've also tried removing the first one and predictably each
one fails in exactly the same way...may I ask how best to correct
this?
Here is the error:
LDAP# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=summitnjhome,dc=com" -W -f /tmp/passwd.ldif

SAMBA configuration nightmare (AIX) - idmaps do not work (core dump), ldap/nss_ldap and pam fail
Well, I have tried really hard to get any of the idmaps to work--in
that, idmap_ads, idmap_rid, and I have tried to use idmap stroage in
ldap with padl (nss_ldap) too, but I have had no luck. If I enable pam
in /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg or nss_ldap, I cannot log into the
system anymore. If I enable pam in /etc/pam.conf and use in
/etc/security/users SYSTEM = "WINBINd or WINBIND[UNAVAIL]

Need help with IDMAP storage in LDAP using Winbind
Hello @ll,
First a small sketch of my working environment.
There is one PDC, W2000 server, which contains an Active directory, so
basically all the windows users are maintained there. And the Linux/Unix
accounts are stored on a NIS server.
My goal would be the following 2 things.
Firstly currently all the Linux/Unix servers are setup with individual
winbind setups to make the windows users

I'm sorry, I forgot to say it. My LDAP and Samba are in the same machine.

samba4 schema for openldap
Assuming the DNS for the site is setup correctly, the srv records should be
evenly spreading the load among the servers on the site that the client is
on.
With Windows based domain the answer to this question is either fix your
ldap client to use the SRV records and not use only the DC with the PDC
Emulator role, or add more DCs to the site. I would assume the answer is
the same for a Samba

Samba, ldap and winbind - almost there!
Hi All,
I'm in the process of setting up samba with ldap and winbind and haven't
been able to find an article anywhere on how to do this. I've managed to
troll together everything except the directory setup.
I'm stuck on what I need to add into the directory (ldif files) to make
it all go. I've included the steps I took and so hopefully it'll be easy
to spot what

idmap ldap winbind core dump
My samba machine authenticates logins from our AD domain and stores
SID->UID mappings with idmap_ldap. Every couple of days winbind
crashes, though not regularly. It's not linked to new users logging
into our machine, though it might be new users being added to the
domain (I don't control the domain). The core dump seems to indicate
an LDAP problem. I found some similar
