Offline Backup Error: Failed to open /usr/local/samba/private/netlogon_creds_cli.tdb
Hello, Below you will find a snippet from the output of running an offline backup. I'm specifically concerned with "Failed to open /usr/local/samba/private/netlogon_creds_cli.tdb". is this an issue or can it be safely ignored? I ask because the offline process appears to otherwise run without issue. Server is Ubuntu 22.04 with Samba 4.19.2 built from source. Starting

Distributing custom driver config in TDB files
Hi, Is there a way to populate customized settings of the drivers (printing related TDB files) from one Print Server to another? Here is the background: I am working on centralized driver distribution. Besides pushing all the drivers from a central location to the edges, the administrator should also be allowed to customize the drivers settings and the distribution should send those

BTRFS corruptions counter
Hi, We decided to give BTRFS a try. We find it very flexible and generally fast. However last week we had a problem with a Marvell controller in AHCI and one BTRFS formatted hard drive. We isolated the problem by relocating the disk to an Intel contoller (SATA controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9172 SATA 6Gb/s Controller (rev 11) had a lot of problems and I managed to overcome them by

How to repair corrupt ntprinters.tdb?
Hi, we are using samba 3.0.24 as a printspooler for 80 network printers with a 500kB ntprinters.tdb for some years now. When we recently restarted samba we noticed that the ntprinters.tdb automatically shrinked to 24kB and printing was no longer possible. tdbdump of the original tdb-file is impossible too: "Failed to open ntprinters.tdb" The strange thing about this: we can solve

Upgrade from 3.5.6 to 3.6.12 causes errors in password TDB
We're having trouble with our samba PDC since the upgrade to 3.6.12. We've got a standard smbpassword file using TDB and I;ve run tdbtool and tdbbackup over the file and both report no errors. The PDC will run for several hours handling hundreds of users and will then catastrophically fail with each daemon process reporting the following in turn:

Hai, Thank you for having trust in my packages.. :-) Now if you use my package, i suggest, do read the howto's also... All you need for a good setup on debian stretch is there. if anyone find/see's improvements, please tell me... Or change it on github, thats why its there. First is this an upgraded domain? Or a new domain? What does `getent passwd username` tell you. Same for `id

tdbbackup with bouncing/shutting down samba possible?
Hi, We are a small company, which has just started using samba. Recently we have faced a few issues regarding the TDBs getting corrupted. I have read that the only way of getting around this issue, is to regularly take tdbbackups. But, this process needs a downtime of my samba server, which we would not want. Instead, is there a way where I can take the tdbbackup with out shutting down samba

Replicating printers, drivers, and settings between machines
For backup and redundancy purposes, I've been needing to replicate CUPS printer queues between two Samba servers, and came up with the following shell script. We use a fairly sizable number of CUPS printer queues printing in RAW mode, and install the printer drivers from the Windows clients, so all clients actually download the printer driver from Samba at first use.
